Kenia Gutierrez, a close friend of Garrison Brown, fondly remembers the good times they shared with the late Sister Wives star after his unexpected passing on Tuesday, March 5.

In an exclusive interview, Gutierrez shared her shock at the news, expressing how Brown was always a joy to be around and had a welcoming presence. She noted how everything seemed normal in the days leading up to his death, highlighting his always cheerful demeanor. The sudden loss was truly shocking to Gutierrez and all who knew him.

Us confirmed that the 25-year-old son of Janelle and Kody Brown passed away in his Flagstaff, Arizona, home due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Currently, an investigation is being conducted into the apparent suicide.

Gutierrez shared with Us that she first met Garrison back in 2016 when he and his family resided in Las Vegas. They got to know each other through attending the same Mormon church. Since then, the Brown family has relocated to Flagstaff.

Gutierrez and Garrison had not seen each other in a couple of years, but they kept in touch through text messages. Recently, when they texted a few months back, Gutierrez mentioned that their conversation was nothing concerning.

Gutierrez recalled Garrison as a very cheerful and positive individual. She mentioned that he always spoke highly of his family and they had a strong bond.

Gabriel Brown found his brother Garrison’s body in their home on Tuesday morning and immediately called the Flagstaff Police Department.

After hearing about their son’s passing, Janelle, 54, and Kody, 55, each released almost identical statements.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our beloved son, Robert Garrison Brown. He brought light and joy to all those who knew him, and his absence has left a profound void in our lives. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time as we cherish his memory.

In addition to Garrison and their son Gabriel, Kody and Janelle also have children named Logan, Madison, Hunter, and Savanah. Kody is also a father to 12 more children with his other partners, Meri Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown.

Janelle informed the police that Garrison had sent a message in a group chat with the Brown family's employees. The text said, "I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can't. I miss these days."

Janelle was not part of the text chain, but she found out about the message and got worried about her son, Garrison. She reached out to him, and they had a brief conversation before he stopped responding, according to the police report.

In the 2022 season 18 of Sister Wives, Janelle discussed Garrison's mental health. (During this time, Garrison and Kody clashed over their opinions on COVID-19 regulations.)

On the show in October 2023, Janelle mentioned, "Gabriel experiences emotions very deeply. However, he tends to keep his thoughts to himself." She also expressed concern about Garrison's changed demeanor, noting that he appears to be more upset or unhappy compared to his usual cheerful self.
