How Many Seasons Will Foundation Actually Get?

We have already extensively planned Season 4, and if we are fortunate enough to continue beyond that, we have major milestones that we are working towards in Seasons 5, 6, 7, and 8. Regardless of whether certain characters' journeys conclude in Season 4 or Season 6, we can adjust accordingly based on the number of seasons we receive. While there may be surprises along the way, I have a clear understanding of the ultimate fates for all the main characters.

Announced before the completion of season 1, Foundation season 2 demonstrated Apple's trust in the show and its audience. Season 2 received praise from viewers and critics alike. While Apple has not yet officially confirmed season 3, indications are positive. Although Apple does not disclose viewership data, various metrics suggest that season 2 has been well-received. Additionally, Goyer himself is confident that Foundation season 3 will come to fruition.

Despite the show's enduring popularity, Apple TV Plus currently has a limited number of shows that go beyond season 3. For instance, Ted Lasso, which is likely less expensive to produce compared to Foundation, aired for three seasons, just like See and The Morning Show. However, a fan-favorite show like For All Mankind has been confirmed to return for a fourth season.

The main reason for this is that Apple TV Plus is a relatively new service, only being around for about four years. Unlike Netflix, which has been in the industry for a much longer time and has dealt with the cancellation and renewal of numerous shows, there isn't much precedent to determine how long Foundation might run for. Nevertheless, if the show maintains its popularity and justifies its expenses, there is a strong possibility that Foundation season 8 will be produced.
