Meghan McCain is still holding onto her previous conflict with Seth Meyers.
During an episode of her "Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat" podcast on Thursday, October 20, the 38-year-old shared her negative experience appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers. She described it as one of the worst moments of her life. McCain, who was previously a cohost on The View, recounted her contentious exchange with Meyers in 2019, which centered around Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
McCain received backlash for criticizing Omar, 41, over her comments about Israel, which were seen by many as anti-Semitic. Meyers wondered why McCain persisted in addressing Omar's remarks even after she had apologized, citing the death threats that the congresswoman had received as a result. McCain staunchly defended her statements, stating that she stood by everything she had said and was unbothered by any potential unpopularity. She then questioned Meyers if he was working as Omar's publicist or press person.
“No, I'm simply an individual who is concerned about the existence of someone in a minority group who has received death threats. I believe it is important for all of us to use the same language," Meyers, 49, responded. "You are requesting her to be cautious with her words, and I would urge everyone else to do the same."
YoutubeAfter McCain asked Meyers what would bring him happiness, Meyers tried to conclude the discussion on a positive note, expressing contentment with everything McCain had said and expressing gratitude for the time they had spent together.
After the heated exchange, McCain's husband, Ben Domenech, defended his wife's statements on social media, launching a homophobic attack against Meyers. Domenech referred to the comedian as a terrible person and an incredibly unfunny individual, using derogatory language.
During her podcast, McCain discussed Domenech's controversial remarks while speaking with guest Ted Cruz. She stated, "My husband made a tweet suggesting that Domenech only had a show because he had a close relationship with Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of Late Night With Seth Meyers. I found it to be a terrible experience, and I hold resentment towards Seth Meyers indefinitely."
As for Domenech, he eventually expressed regret for his attack on Meyers. In May 2019, he issued an apology on X (previously known as Twitter), stating, "I deeply care for my wife and I am sorry for my angry tweet about how Seth Meyers treated her. Although I strongly dislike Meyers and consider him untalented, I shouldn't have resorted to that behavior. I apologize to anyone I may have offended."
McCain and Domenech tied the knot in November 2017 and became parents to their first daughter, Liberty Sage, in September 2020. Their second daughter, Clover Jade, was born three years later in January.
