After leaving The View, Meghan McCain expressed frustration with her former cohosts for regularly mentioning her and speaking negatively about her. She took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her feelings on December 14, writing, “I don’t understand why my former colleagues @TheView @ABC bring me up and slander me on an almost weekly basis. It has been years – move on, I have.”
Earlier in the day, the panel on the morning talk show, including Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin, were debating President Joe Biden's son Hunter and his refusal to comply with a subpoena to testify in a private hearing about his foreign businesses. Navarro, 51, defended Hunter and criticized other children of political figures.
"Navarro claimed that Hunter Biden engaged in influence-peddling on the basis of his last name, a practice that she asserted is common in Washington. She implied that even people sitting at the table had done so. The members of The View panel exchanged looks as they tried to identify who Navarro was referring to. She later clarified that she did not mean the current occupants of the table, but did not specify anyone in particular. McCain, who is the daughter of late Senator John McCain, assumed that the comment was directed at her. (Meghan participated as a cohost on the show from 2017 to 2021)."
"I have never been charged with a crime in my life and am a loyal American – I would never and have never engaged in 'influence peddling' in my life, especially with foreign adversaries," she tweeted. "Not all politicians' children are alike – and I am not Hunter Biden.

Meghan slammed Navarro’s alleged accusations and called them “defamatory and slanderous.”
“I will be seeking legal counsel regarding the false accusations made against me on The View this morning,” she wrote.
In a subsequent comment, Meghan emphasized that as a “previous employee of ABC News,” she takes allegations of “criminal behavior” against her very seriously.
After leaving The View, Meghan has openly shared her mixed emotions about her time on the show. In October 2021, she stated that she departed due to the show's "toxic work environment."
"I believe that The View has underlying issues that have existed since the beginning, and none of those issues have been resolved," she commented to Variety.

Two years after leaving Fox News, the former contributor admitted that she no longer watches her former program. "It's like browsing through an ex-boyfriend's Instagram - not good for you. So no, I don't watch," she joked in an interview with The Messenger in October.
