Kim Zolciak-Biermann has expressed a concern that her husband, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, may be dealing with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive brain condition believed to result from repeated head injuries.

In a recorded conversation with Milton County officer James Spivey, obtained by We, Zolciak-Biermann, who is 45 years old, recounted a frightening incident in May. During this incident, her husband, aged 37, locked her out of their residence when she was trying to retrieve her medication.

“He’s diabolical, all he wants to do is cause chaos,” stated the former member of Real Housewives of Atlanta. “It's like he thinks I committed some kind of betrayal, the way he acts. His behavior is extremely strange and unpredictable, I never know what to expect.”

Zolciak-Biermann informed the police officer that Biermann forcefully entered and triggered the alarm. Faced with the situation, the reality star considered the possibility of moving out and obtaining a restraining order. Spivey managed to reach out to Biermann and informed Zolciak-Biermann that her husband had left her medication in the hallway, allowing her to retrieve it.

Zolciak-Biermann didn't explicitly state her belief that the former football player has a brain disorder, but she strongly suggested it by asserting that the NFL should be held responsible for their actions.

"I understand that they are investigating the issue regarding CTE because it is the league's responsibility to examine it more closely in advance," the officer mentioned in the conversation. "I cannot confirm if that is the condition he is dealing with, but it is a possibility."

CTE is a common condition among football players, as stated by the Mayo Clinic. (Biermann, who was a member of the Atlanta Falcons from 2008 to 2015, played football during that time.) This condition gradually deteriorates nerve cells in the brain, known as degeneration, and worsens over time. Its symptoms include cognitive and emotional difficulties, physical issues, and altered behavior. A diagnosis of CTE can only be made postmortem through a brain autopsy.

During the conversation with the police, Zolciak-Biermann proceeded to recount a previous encounter with a former neighbor who also suffered from CTE and eventually passed away due to it. She noticed similarities between that person and her husband's current behavior.

"[The symptoms are] identical, the same rage, the same aggressions," she stated in the call. "There's no way to calm Kroy down. He goes from crying with his head in his hands, inside the closet, lying on the floor."

The call occurred during the couple's chaotic divorce proceedings. It was confirmed in May that the former NFL player had filed for divorce after being married for over ten years. Their separation became even more chaotic as they fought in court for custody of their four children - Kroy "KJ" Jr., 11, Kash, 10, and twins Kaia and Kane, 9 – and publicly attacked each other.

After their initial separation, Zolciak-Biermann and Biermann had a change of heart and decided to reconcile two months later. It was during a family trip to church that they were seen together, sparking the rumors of a reunion. In July, a source confirmed that they were determined to make things work for the sake of their children, although the future remained uncertain. As a result, they have officially withdrawn their divorce petition.
