WWE superstar Seth Rollins has finally commented on his role in Captain America 4, calling it a "very good experience" and remaining tight-lipped about any details.
Rollins' costume in the set photos resembles his ring attire, and he highlights the healthy competition between himself and his wife, fellow WWE superstar Becky Lynch.
Marvel sees Rollins' involvement in the film as a positive, given their recent decline in fan support, and his exceptional ability to portray a villainous character could truly shine in his inaugural appearance on the big screen.
WWE superstar Seth Rollins has finally commented on his role in the film Captain America: Brave New World, after his involvement was revealed in set photos. Rollins shared his experience of working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe project so far.
Captain America: The First Avenger introduced Steve Rogers as a weak patriot who becomes a super soldier thanks to a serum. After being frozen in time and rejoining the modern day, he becomes an Avenger. Following Rogers' retirement in Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) takes up the mantle of Captain America. Captain America 4 will be Wilson's first solo film. The film was initially titled New World Order but recently changed its title, which Marvel Studios made official through new set photos.
Similarly, in May, set photos of Captain America 4 unveiled the surprising involvement of WWE's Rollins in the project. Despite never having mentioned his participation before, the star finally addressed the situation and shared his experience on the set of the Marvel Studios project at a recent WWE x C4 event. "I am bound by secrecy. I can't reveal much about this project," Rollins pondered. "Although the photos have inevitably surfaced online, there's nothing we can do about that. Nonetheless, it was an incredible experience for me, and I'm eagerly anticipating the reactions of others who get to witness the project."
The details about Rollins' character in Captain America 4 are limited, but his costume in the set photos resembles his previous ring attire. He mentioned a rivalry with his wife, professional wrestler Becky Lynch, who stepped down from her RAW Women's title due to her pregnancy. Rollins expressed that their marriage is filled with healthy competitiveness as they are both top-tier stars. He acknowledged that Lynch headlined WrestleMania before him, while he made it into the film industry before her, resulting in ongoing friendly competition between them.
Rollins joining Captain America 4 is beneficial for the film, especially during a time when Marvel Studios movies appear to be losing some of their passionate fan support compared to earlier phases of the MCU. Although his inclusion may not make up for the absence of a highly anticipated character in the film, it will be intriguing to witness his well-known talent for portraying a villainous character on the big screen.
Due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the SAG-AFTRA union, all film and TV projects are expected to experience delays. However, the prolonged wait for the release of Captain America: Brave New World could potentially benefit fans. It may provide them with a much-needed break from the genre fatigue that many of them are currently experiencing. With its strong premise and rumors of Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Iron Man, this project could serve as a significant milestone for Marvel Studios' resurgence. The theatrical release of Captain America: Brave New World is set for July 26th, 2024.
