Marvel Drops Bombshell Title Change for Captain America 4: Fans Lose It!

Marvel Studios confirms new title for Captain America 4 with an exciting behind-the-scenes photo featuring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford

The highly-anticipated fourth installment of the Captain America franchise is finally on its way, bringing with it a new title and a surprise addition to the cast. Captain America: Brave New World marks the first film in the series without Chris Evans in the lead role, as Anthony Mackie steps up to take on the iconic shield and suit.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, viewers saw Evans' Steve Rogers pass on the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson (Mackie), otherwise known as Falcon. Introduced in Captain America: Winter Soldier back in 2014, Wilson's character was explored in greater depth in the 2021 Disney Plus series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, as he grappled with the weight of his new responsibilities and what it truly meant to become Captain America. Marvel Studios later confirmed that a fourth film was in development, originally titled New World Order.

The upcoming Marvel Studios film, Captain America 4: Brave New World, has been officially announced and is set to release in theaters on May 3, 2024. Alongside the announcement, the studio shared a behind-the-scenes photo of actor Anthony Mackie donning the iconic Captain America suit, accompanied by Harrison Ford, who will be making his MCU debut as President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. Mackie expressed his gratitude towards Ford in an Instagram post, stating "When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen!" Co-written by Malcolm Spellman and Julius Onah, the film will follow Mackie's character as he takes on the role of the new Captain America. Several other actors will be reprising their Marvel roles, including Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Tim Blake and Liv Tyler as Samuel Sterns and Betty Ross, respectively.

This year proved to be a mixed bag for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania receiving a 48 percent critic score on Metacritic and facing some setbacks due to controversies surrounding Jonathan Majors' portrayal of Kang, the new villain of the MCU. However, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 fared better with a 64 percent score on Metacritic and was widely appreciated by fans. Fans can gear up for Captain America: Brave New World, which is set to release on May 4, 2024.
