Anthony Mackie puts an end to speculations regarding the villain in Captain America: Brave New World and its connection to Harrison Ford's character. Ford, known for his memorable roles in various franchises, is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Julius Onah's upcoming film. Taking on the role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross after the passing of William Hurt in 2022, Ford's involvement sparked rumors that he would portray the character Red Hulk. However, in an interview with ComicBook, Mackie dismisses these theories, pointing out that the speculation was fueled by Ford being seen wearing torn black pants. Mackie's complete statement can be found below.
Will Red Hulk Be In Captain America: Brave New World?
: "You know, Harrison [Ford] and I have a long history. Not many people are aware of this fact. This is actually our second collaboration. When he arrived in Atlanta, his luggage got lost, so I lent him a pair of pants. However, I must clarify that those pants were my work pants that I wore while doing yard work. Harrison can be a bit grumpy, and he straightforwardly asked, 'Anthony, just give me the pants.' Without hesitation, I replied, 'Alright.' So, it was simply a matter of him needing a pair of pants."In relation to Mackie's comments, he does not explicitly deny Ross becoming Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World. Instead, he provides an explanation for the image of Ford that led to speculation on the matter. There remains a possibility that Ross could transform into the Red Hulk during the movie. It is also worth mentioning that Mackie's explanation is somewhat vague. Even if Ford lost his suitcases, it seems unlikely that the situation would escalate to the point where he would need to borrow Mackie's clothes.
Ross and Sam Wilson, known for their roles in the MCU, have never had the opportunity for personal interactions on screen. With Wilson taking on the mantle of the new Captain America, their dynamic in "Captain America: Brave New World" is bound to be intriguing. While it is uncertain if Ross will transform into Red Hulk, there is expected to be some tension between the two.
Filming for "Captain America: Brave New World" is complete, but the release of the movie is scheduled for next year. Marvel Studios can use this timeframe to withhold any information about the film. However, when the trailer is eventually released, fans will surely anticipate the first look at Ford's portrayal of Ross.
