A new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet unveiled that past starter Pokemon will be available in the upcoming Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. Presented at the conclusion of the 2023 Pokemon World Championships, the trailer displayed that players will have the opportunity to capture these Pokemon in the wild. This inclusion will provide Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players with more choices when constructing their teams.

Furthermore, the trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's second DLC, The Indigo Disk, showcased various Pokemon that players will encounter upon its release in winter. Notably, the trailer disclosed the types of Raging Bolt and Iron Crown, which are the exclusive Paradox forms of Raikou and Cobalion. Raging Bolt is categorized as Electric/Dragon, while Iron Crown is classified as Steel/Psychic. Moreover, new signature moves were revealed for these Pokemon, alongside additional moves for specific Pokemon. Among these moves is Psychic Noise, a Psychic-type attack that hinders healing and can be employed by Pokemon like Gardevoir. In The Indigo Disk DLC, previously unobtainable starter Pokemon from the base game will now be catchable in the wild, expanding players' collections. From Bulbasaur to Sobble, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can look forward to obtaining all of the starter Pokemon when The Indigo Disk DLC launches in Winter 2023. As of now, only the final evolved forms of some previous starter Pokemon can be caught through seven-star Tera Raid battles, including Charizard, Typhlosion, Samurott, Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, Decidueye, Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon. However, the earlier forms of these Pokemon can also be obtained through breeding or transferring from Pokemon Home.

Additionally, the remaining starter Pokemon will be transferable from Pokemon Home to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in a future update. Pokemon trainers who have been eagerly awaiting the chance to use starters like Totodile and Torchic will soon have their opportunity, as both The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk will introduce new Pokemon along with the returning ones.
