Dragami Games has announced a delay for the highly anticipated remake of the beloved zombie hack-and-slash game, Lollipop Chainsaw. Initially planned for release in 2023, the remake was intended to bring the popular seventh generation console game to new platforms. However, fans will have to exercise patience as the release has been pushed back to next year.

Originally released in 2012 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, Lollipop Chainsaw gained a devoted following due to its unique collaboration between filmmaker James Gunn and Grasshopper Manufacture. Players assume the role of Juliet Starling, an 18-year-old cheerleader who serves as a zombie hunter armed with a chainsaw. The game's peculiar premise, striking visuals, and offbeat tone contributed to its cult classic status. Fans will have to wait until next year for the chance to relive this one-of-a-kind gaming experience.

The official Dragami Games Twitter account posted an announcement in both Japanese and English, revealing the official title of the Lollipop Chainsaw remake as Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP. The announcement includes artwork for the game and states that the release has been delayed until Summer 2024 in order to ensure the best possible experience. Yoshimi Yasuda, the original director of Lollipop Chainsaw and producer of the remake, also posted a message apologizing for the delay and expressing his team's dedication to creating an outstanding game. He thanks the fans for their continued support.

Although Lollipop Chainsaw received mixed reviews from critics, it left a lasting impression on gamers, becoming a memorable title. In fact, even James Gunn referred to Lollipop Chainsaw in his 2021 film, The Suicide Squad, as Harley Quinn unleashes her weapon upon a horde of enemies, accompanied by vibrant and whimsical visuals. Some fans have reservations about the upcoming remake, as it does not involve Gunn or Suda51. However, others eagerly anticipate the return of this cult classic. Ultimately, gamers will have to wait until next year to determine whether their excitement or concerns are justified.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is scheduled to release in the summer of 2024.
