Bruce Springsteen is complying with medical advice and extending his break from performing live shows. In a statement shared with X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, the 74-year-old musician mentioned that he is steadily recuperating from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks. As per his doctor's recommendation, he will undergo further treatment throughout the remainder of the year.
"In light of this, and as a precautionary measure, we will be rescheduling all remaining tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band in 2023 to 2024," the statement further conveyed.
Earlier this month and last month, Springsteen had already called off multiple shows alongside the E Street Band.
The statement released on Wednesday revealed that the shows, as well as the concerts planned for the remainder of this year, will be rescheduled. The rescheduled dates will be announced next week and will still take place at the originally planned venues.
According to the statement, when the new dates for 2024 are announced, individuals who are unable to attend on the new date and have purchased their tickets through authorized ticketing companies will have a 30-day period to request a refund. It was further stated that all tickets for postponed performances will remain valid for the newly announced dates.
Springsteen concluded his statement with a heartfelt message, expressing gratitude to his friends and fans for their kind wishes, motivation, and backing. He assured them that he was recovering well and eagerly looking forward to reuniting with them all in the coming year.
As per the Cleveland Clinic, peptic ulcer disease is characterized by the formation of ulcerous open sores in the stomach or the initial portion of the small intestine. The development of this condition is often attributed to the erosion of the protective lining of the digestive system caused by a bacterial infection.
