Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are following the same post-launch pattern as the Gen 8 games, with two DLC expansions on the way. These expansions will introduce new creatures and areas for players to explore. The Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is scheduled to be released on September 13. Despite previous rumors and hints, recent datamines have revealed most of the details about this expansion. Similarly, before the release of the Gen 9 games, players were able to discover the entire Paldean Pokedex, along with all the new creatures, days before the game's launch. Now, the same is happening with The Teal Mask DLC.

Although the release date for The Indigo Disk has not been confirmed, it is hinted to launch in Winter 2023. Players who are still unsure about purchasing the Gen 9 expansions can now see what The Teal Mask has to offer before making a decision. The Teal Mask DLC will introduce a total of 7 completely new Pokemon species and one new form. It is not yet clear if this form will be considered a regional form or something entirely different. Additionally, the first expansion for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will include 18 new sub-locations to explore within Kitakami.

Exclusive Insider Scoop: Unveiling the Hidden Secrets of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Teal Mask DLC!

The Teal Mask DLC introduces a variety of new Pokemon, each with their own distinct traits. Among them is Dipplin, a unique creature that combines elements of Grass and Dragon types. Dipplin is a rare cross-generation evolution of Applin.

Poltchageist (Grass/Ghost), a regional fake of Sinistea

Sinistcha (Grass/Ghost), a regional fake of Polteageist

Okidogi (Poison/Fighting)

Munkidori (Poison/Psychic)

Fezandipiti (Poison/Fairy)

Ogerpon

Bloodmoon Ursaluna, a variant of Ursaluna found exclusively in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, is speculated to have a different typing compared to its Hisui form. While the typing for Ogerpon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has not been officially confirmed, rumors suggest that its Teal Mask form could potentially be Grass/Ghost, with the possibility of acquiring Fire, Water, or Rock types for its alternate masks.

Regarding Bloodmoon Ursaluna, the prevailing theory suggests that it will have a Ground/Steel typing, relinquishing its Normal type from the Hisui region. Additionally, it is rumored to possess a new Ability known as Mind's Eye, enabling it to effectively hit Ghost-types with both Normal and Fighting-type moves. Its unique move, called Blood Moon, appears to function similarly to other powerful attacks that have a cooldown, although the specifics regarding its base power and PP remain unknown at this time.

The DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduces new abilities and signature moves for Poltchageist and Sinistcha. Poltchageist gains the ability "Hospitality," which heals allies upon switching in, while Sinistcha gains the ability "Matcha Gotcha," which deals damage and restores HP to the user. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to explore the new area called Kitakami Road.

The latest trailers for the expansions of Gen 9 games introduced new characters for each DLC. One of them, Perrin, a photographer, appears to have some connection to Adaman from Pokemon Legends: Arceus. In the game, players will be able to learn how to take pictures from Perrin as she embarks on a search for a mysterious Pokemon known as Bloodmoon Ursaluna. This further strengthens the ties between Pokemon Legends: Arceus and the more modern games. While there is still much to uncover about The Teal Mask, its release just days away provides players with a clearer understanding.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
