Speculation about the next World of Warcraft expansion is increasing, with a datamined achievement hinting at what Blizzard has planned.
Players are speculating due to the appearance of a new earth elemental mount model and an achievement titled "Heroic Edition: Algarian Stormrider" in promotional materials. The mount's name has intrigued fans as it may be connected to the Wildhammer clan of dwarves. The anticipation for Chris Metzen's presence at BlizzCon is increasing as fans hope to gain insights into the upcoming expansion.
Amidst growing speculation surrounding the tenth expansion of World of Warcraft, a recently discovered in-game achievement may provide players with a clue about Blizzard's future plans. Initially circulated by World of Warcraft players on social media, this achievement has been verified by a reliable source as an authentic addition to the game's files.
As the date for BlizzCon 2023 approaches, scheduled for November 3 and 4, Blizzard has begun distributing promotional materials and floor plans that detail the various activities fans can expect at the Anaheim Convention Center. A segment of the banner displayed in one of the floor plans caught the attention of the community, revealing a new model for an earth elemental mount. This unexpected addition has sparked speculation about the potential direction of the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion. However, it is worth noting that this mount is not the sole subject of players' anticipation leading up to BlizzCon.
A screenshot of potential achievements in World of Warcraft was shared on the game's subreddit, by a Reddit user named Wiraneusz. The achievements were found by digging through Blizzard's API for encrypted data. Wowhead confirmed the discoveries. Among the achievements related to the upcoming mobile game, Warcraft Rumble, one titled "Heroic Edition: Algarian Stormrider" caught players' attention. Speculations arose that it could be a mount earned by purchasing the Heroic Edition of the next expansion. Some WoW players claimed that the mount's name is a reference to Khaz Algar, a dwarven city mentioned in a book found within the "Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr" dungeon in the game.
While the name "Stormrider" could have various meanings, such as being elemental or being a new type of mount for dragonriding, some players suggested that it could be linked to the Wildhammer clan of dwarves. The Wildhammer clan was prominently featured in the Cataclysm expansion, representing an Alliance-exclusive faction and riding gryphons as their preferred mounts. With the return of Chris Metzen as the Warcraft series' Executive Creative Director, it is uncertain if the Algarian Stormrider is part of Metzen's future work for WoW expansions or something entirely different. BlizzCon will provide further insights, as Metzen is scheduled to discuss the future of the Warcraft series.
Naturally, it is wise to approach all rumors with skepticism. However, as speculation about the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion persists, it remains uncertain which rumors will ultimately be confirmed.
World of Warcraft is presently accessible for PC.
