Eva Mendes chose to keep a low profile at the 2024 Oscars, but she still made sure to support her partner Ryan Gosling.

Instead of walking the red carpet at the awards show on Sunday, March 10, the 50-year-old actress decided to stay backstage to cheer on Gosling, who is 43 years old. Before the ceremony, Mendes posted a photo on Instagram of herself outside Gosling's dressing room with the caption, "Always by my man."

After Gosling performed his Barbie Oscar-nominated song, "I'm Just Ken," Mendes shared a behind-the-scenes Instagram photo. In the picture, she is wearing the same bright pink-studded suit jacket, black cowboy hat, and matching sunglasses that Gosling wore during his performance.

In the caption of the event photo, Mendes humorously wrote, "You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed."

"I’m Just Ken” was nominated for Best Original Song at the 96th Academy Awards, but unfortunately, it did not win. The award went to another Barbie track, Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made for?”, which was the only win for the film that night.

Barbie received a total of eight nominations at the awards ceremony. These included nominations for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design. Additionally, Gosling was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Ken, although the award ultimately went to Robert Downey Jr. for his role in Oppenheimer.

Sunday’s ceremony marks the end of this year’s awards season for Gosling and his Barbie co-stars. Despite the movie’s huge success worldwide, earning over $1 billion at the box office, Gosling's main priority remains taking care of his daughters, Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7, according to Mendes’ brother, Carlo Mendez.

At the Children Uniting Nation’s 24th Annual Academy Awards Celebration and Viewing Dinner in Beverly Hills on Sunday, Mendez shared that family always comes first for Gosling and Mendes. He emphasized the importance of family in life, asking, "What else do you have in life if you don’t have family?"

According to the insider, Gosling sees it as just part of the job and prefers to let others take the spotlight. He's not interested in being the center of attention.

In a conversation with GQ in May 2023, Gosling confessed that meeting Eva Mendes while working together on the movie The Place Beyond the Pines in 2012 completely changed his life priorities.

After meeting Eva, he realized that he wanted to have kids with her. During filming The Place Beyond the Pines, pretending to be a family made him want the real thing. He knew that a life with Eva and children would be a lucky one.
