Jikais Shrine Walkthrough: A Guide to Breaking Out of Jail in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomJikais Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is not your ordinary Shrine. With the subtitle "Jailbreak", the Shrine is designed to challenge players' problem-solving skills as they navigate through its many rooms - all of which are themed around the concept of breaking out of jail. The name of a Shrine is often a major hint at its solution, and Jikais Shrine is no exception.
Unlike the infamous "Courage to Fall" Shrine, where players had to touch lasers and fall through a ground trap, Jikais Shrine doesn't trick players in the same way. However, breaking out of jail is never easy, even with Link's new abilities. Players will have to think outside the box and explore unconventional solutions to get past otherwise impassable obstacles. By the end, they will have to literally look outside the box for a solution, too.
If you're struggling to escape Jikais Shrine, don't worry. Our walkthrough guide will help you solve the puzzles and overcome the challenges of this imaginative Shrine. Get ready to break out of jail and discover what lies beyond the walls of Jikais Shrine.
How To Get To Jikais Shrine
Nestled atop the frosty Mount Lanayru lies Jikais Shrine, a serene location with breathtaking views. However, the environment is not as welcoming as the vistas. Be sure to pack some Hot Peppers or grab the Snowquill set for a reliable cold-resist effect.
Jikais Shrine is easily located on the snowy ground of Mount Lanayru with coordinates (4264, -1667, 0181). The optimal time to conquer this shrine is either before or en route to activating the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. Its prominent position makes it hard to miss when traveling from Hateno Village towards the tower.
Jikais Shrine Walkthrough (Jailbreak)
To progress through the first room of Jikais Shrine, players must use a combination of Ultrahand and Ascend to scale a tall wall. Moveable blocks on rails are present on both sides of the wall, but simply climbing up the side of these blocks is not an option for Link. The blocks need to be adjusted to allow Link to Ascend upwards and access the next room. On the right side, the bottom block should be moved to the right and the top block to the left. On the left side, players need to move the top block all the way to the right so that it lines up perfectly underneath the alcove containing a torch.
Ascend on the right side and paraglide to the left side. Ascend again through the uppermost block and jump into the alcove. Ascend once more to enter the next room where players will find a Shrine Chest and a large stone platform.
To move forward, use Ultrahand on the platform and drag it to the opposite end of the room with the long side facing Link. Balance it carefully so that one side extends slightly over the right-side edge. Walk over to the overhanging part of the stone platform and switch to Ascend. Burrow upwards to reach the final room, which is an "inescapable" prison cell.
Without the ability to manipulate his surroundings using Ultrahand, Link would have been in a dire situation. Luckily, he was able to spot another stone platform located outside the non-climbable bars. Using Ultrahand, he picked it up and dragged it inside the cell. Link then leaned it against the bars and walked up it or climbed on it and used Recall to carry him out. Once the jailbreak puzzle was completed, he walked over to the end of the Shrine and received a Light of Blessing.
- How To Get The Jikais Shrine Chest
The Magic Staff is a valuable treasure found inside the chest located in the second room of Jikais Shrine. To reach it, players must balance a stone platform and ascend to the final room where a metal platform holds the chest. Using Ascend just below it will grant access to the Magic Staff, which can gain spell-like effects when fused to a gemstone. Don't miss out on this powerful tool in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, available on the Nintendo Switch.
