In an interview with People, Emily Blunt made an apology for her previous statements made in 2012 after a video resurfaced.

In the video, she can be heard commenting, "The waitress who was serving us was quite large, I believe she received complimentary meals at Chili's."

Following the widespread criticism for her insensitive remarks, she has since expressed remorse. "I want to sincerely apologize for my previous fat-shaming comments," Blunt wrote, acknowledging the video clip from over a decade ago that left her stunned.

“I’m appalled that I would say something so insensitive, hurtful, and unrelated to whatever story I was trying to tell on a talk show,” she added.

Apologizing for her actions, she expressed, "And despite that, it happened, and I uttered those words, and I deeply regret any pain it might have caused. I was undoubtedly mature enough to make wiser choices."

The original excerpt was sourced from a YouTube video featuring her appearance on the renowned UK talk show, The Jonathon Ross Show. During her guest appearance, she aimed to promote her blockbuster film, Looper, by recounting an incident at a Chili's restaurant during the filming process.

Emily Blunt is set to reprise her co-lead acting role in the sequel to her and Tom Cruise’s iconic sci-fi Edge Of Tomorrow 2.
