Victor Wembanyama was unaware that Britney Spears had been slapped by his security until hours later. He learned about the incident when he returned to the hotel. Initially, he didn't think it was a big deal, but the security informed him that it was Britney Spears. He was skeptical at first but eventually realized it was true. He hadn't recognized her because he didn't see her face and simply continued walking.
Britney Spears, 41, was previously confirmed to have been involved in a physical altercation with the security team of NBA player Victor Wembanyama while in Las Vegas on Wednesday, July 5. According to an exclusive source, Britney approached Victor to ask for a photo and tapped him on the back. However, Victor's security team, who were being overwhelmed by fans at the time, turned around and accidentally hit Britney in the face, causing her glasses to fall off. Following the incident, the head of Victor's security team approached Britney, apologized, and both security teams had a conversation. Britney's team subsequently filed a police report.
Spears, on her part, finally spoke out about the incident earlier on Thursday, taking to her Instagram Story to express, "I have experienced traumatic situations before, and I've had my fair share of them. However, what happened to me last night caught me completely off guard."
She elaborated, stating, "While I was on my way to dinner, I noticed an athlete in the hotel lobby. Later on, when I went to a restaurant in a different hotel, I saw him again. I made the decision to approach him and offer my congratulations on his success." Spears clarified that she simply tapped Wembanyama on the shoulder to gain his attention in the crowded space.
She stated that she was aware of the player's comment about grabbing him from behind, but clarified that she had simply tapped him on the shoulder. She went on to explain that his security personnel then struck her in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd, causing her to nearly stumble and her glasses to fall off her face.
The pop star further mentioned that although she frequently faces large crowds, her own security team never resorts to violence against fans who approach her. She emphasized that while it is embarrassing to share this incident with the public, it is crucial to set a positive example and remind public figures to treat everyone with respect.
There is an alarming prevalence of physical violence in our world, often occurring out of sight. My solidarity lies with all the victims, and my heartfelt condolences go out to all of you!!! I have yet to receive a public apology from the player, his security, or their organization. I hope they will ...
In addition, Spears' husband, Sam Asghari, also voiced his support for his wife on Thursday. "I strongly oppose any form of violence, especially when it lacks justification for the defense of oneself or someone who is unable to protect themselves," he expressed through his Instagram Story. "While self-defense may sometimes be necessary, defending any woman, especially my wife, should not even be a topic for debate. Considering what transpired, I believe my response was restrained, and I sincerely hope that the individual involved learns a lesson and alters his disrespect for women. Thank you for your support."
