In Tears of the Kingdom, players are given the opportunity to construct Link's Tarrey Town house using innovative homebuilding mechanics, which push the boundaries of the game.By creating a hook-like structure that surpasses the height limit and presenting the building layout to Granteson, a suspended and floating floor is formed in midair.
The technique enables the construction of a maximum of six rooms on the floating floor. However, there are certain limitations, including the floor crashing when re-entering build mode and the inconvenience of accessing it.
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a player successfully expanded Link's Tarrey Town house using a floating floor. This game's building mechanics, which are a sequel to Breath of the Wild, allow Tears of the Kingdom players to design various machines for farming enemies, towering unicycles, and other fascinating creations.

Instead of just offering home furnishing like Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom takes it a step further by allowing players to build a custom house for Link from scratch. Despite the limitations in the game's home construction mechanics, fans have managed to create incredibly creative houses since the game was released on May 12.
Reddit user Bagel_enthusiast_192 recently showcased their ingenious engineering skills by constructing a floating house, pushing the boundaries of Tears of the Kingdom's homebuilding mechanics. Through trial and error, the player discovered that the game sets a maximum height for houses. However, this limit only becomes apparent after Link submits the building layout to Granteson. Surprisingly, Granteson accepts the submission without objection, but the game subsequently deletes any floors that exceed the height limit.
Bagel_enthusiast_192 discovered a way to create a floating floor in the game. By constructing an upright hook-like shape that exceeds the height limit, the game removes the bent part of the structure, leaving the floor floating in midair. A gameplay clip showcasing this design suggests that the maximum height for housing is six vertically stacked 2x1 blocks. Therefore, constructing a hook-like shape that is seven units tall should be enough to achieve this engineering feat.
In Tears of the Kingdom, custom homes are limited to 15 housing blocks. Using this technique, it is possible to create floating floors with up to six rooms. However, one drawback is that Link's house can only have 12 units, as three of them are always deleted upon submission. Bagel_enthusiast_192 also confirmed that re-entering the building mode will cause the floating floor to crash. Additionally, accessing the airborne part of the house is quite inconvenient, as it requires using the Ascend ability in Tears of the Kingdom five times in a row before the player can jump over to that section.
In addition, the restriction of 15 units will already compel the majority of players who wish to construct tall houses to consider integrating Ascend into their design plans. This notion was exemplified by another player in the Tears of the Kingdom game, who constructed a remarkable three-story residence with various amenities. However, this house only included a solitary staircase, thereby necessitating Link to Ascend in order to access the third floor.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be played on the Nintendo Switch.
