Demi Lovato has experienced both highs and lows in her romantic life, leading her to be cautious with her heart. She faced heartbreak in her highly publicized relationships with Joe Jonas and Wilmer Valderrama, but managed to move forward. Lovato crossed paths with Valderrama in 2010, following her breakup with Jonas, and the two quickly developed strong feelings for each other. Even during difficult times, Valderrama remained a pillar of support for Lovato, despite their age difference.
After ending things with Max Ehrich in 2020, Lovato found love again with musician Jordan Lutes in August 2022. Their engagement was announced in December 2023.

Young love! In 2008, the Hannah Montana star went on a date with Lovato– but it didn't end the way they'd hoped. "I was supposed to pick up Demi around 7 p.m., but I didn't get to pick her up until like 9. I had an audition in downtown Hollywood, and after my audition, my car broke down in the worst place," Linley shared with Seventeen at the time. "It was really the most up and down night of my life."

The confirmation of their "perfect" relationship to Access Hollywood in March 2010 sent Disney fans into a frenzy. Despite their breakup three months later, the DNCE frontman insisted the decision was mutual. "When I met Demi, I knew right away that our friendship was really strong," he told Teen Vogue at the time. "I don't want to lose that ever." The two remained close through the years, with Lovato even congratulating her ex on his engagement to Sophie Turner in 2017.

Lovato first crossed paths with the That '70s Show actor at the age of 17, and their romantic relationship began a year later. Despite some challenges along the way, the couple parted ways in 2016 after being together for six years. "I think it was love at first sight," Lovato reflected in her 2017 documentary, Simply Complicated. "We connected on a level that I've never connected with anybody before. He was just my rock, my everything."

A source revealed the next month that Lovato was "totally head over heels" with Levy, who made her feel "safe" and "not judged," since he was also sober. Reports verified in September 2019 that the two were "casually dating" — however, their relationship was described as "not very serious." Just one month later, they decided to "take a step back" from their short-lived romance.
