The integration of Modern Warfare 3 into Call of Duty: Warzone will be completed during Season 1 on December 6. The update will feature the new Urzikstan map for the battle royale mode, while the DMZ extraction mode will remain playable with no new content or progression. This includes access to DMZ through the Warzone section of the CoD HQ app, with full playability across all existing maps and missions.
As per Call of Duty's announcement, DMZ will not have a direct connection to Warzone or Modern Warfare 3. This means that progression and any new content for MW3 or Warzone, such as battle pass or store bundles, will not transfer over to DMZ. Additionally, DMZ will not be part of the cross-progression for Warzone or Modern Warfare 3, and progress in DMZ will no longer contribute to battle pass progression starting from Season 1.
Activision expressed gratitude to the community for their support and feedback during the DMZ beta. The publisher acknowledged that some players may be disappointed by the lack of cross-progression with Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, but emphasized the need to apply learnings from the beta to future development efforts in evolving the gameplay style. Furthermore, they assured players that DMZ will still have a variety of content available for continued enjoyment.
The features of the mode can be found in Modern Warfare 3's large-scale Zombies mode, which shares similar contracts, mission structure, backpack system, and exfil concepts with Warzone's DMZ.
Warzone's Season 1 will introduce a new Gulag arena for the Urzikstan map, as well as significant gameplay enhancements and a drivable train. Meanwhile, Modern Warfare 3's seasonal update will bring new core maps, the return of Gunfight, and a new act in the Zombies storyline.
Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic fan of Call of Duty: Warzone DMZ, I am deeply disappointed by the news that the integration with Modern Warfare 3 will lead to dwindling support. The lack of cross-progression between DMZ and MW3 is a major letdown, as it means that players will not be able to carry over their progress and rewards from one game to the other. This is a huge missed opportunity, as it could have provided a seamless and rewarding experience for players who enjoy both games.
Furthermore, the fact that DMZ will not be part of the cross-progression for Warzone or Modern Warfare 3 means that players will have to grind separately for each game. This is a major inconvenience and will likely discourage many players from investing time and effort into DMZ. I am also concerned about the lack of new content and progression for DMZ in Season 1. While I understand that the developers need to apply learnings from the beta to future development efforts, it is disappointing that DMZ players will not be getting any new content or progression for the foreseeable future. This could lead to a decline in player engagement and interest in the mode.
