New Restrictions Added to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Ranked Optics

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Ranked players face new challenges as developers increase restrictions, including limitations on optics during matches With the goal of maintaining a level playing field, the game's developer has expanded the list of banned items in this competitive game mode, ensuring only the most skilled players rise up the ranks

Call of Duty: Warzone 2's Ranked game mode has become a popular place for players to display their skill level and climb the ranks. However, the game's developers have added new restrictions to the mode, particularly on the type of optics that players can use in their next matches. This move is aimed at ensuring a fair and competitive playing field for everyone. With the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 3 Reloaded, players were thrilled to see the introduction of a new Ranked game mode, which offers exclusive rewards and a chance to compete against skilled players. Unfortunately, it seems that further balance changes were necessary, resulting in the addition of more restricted items.

According to a recent post from the official Treyarch Studios Twitter account, gamers will face new restrictions when playing Call of Duty: Warzone 2's ranked game mode. Specifically, thermal optics are now prohibited due to their unintended ability to spot enemy players through smoke grenades while using the Cold-Blooded perk. This restriction applies to a number of optics, including the SZ Holotherm, VX350 Thermal Optic, Teplo-op3 Scope, Thermo-Optic X9, Teplo Clear Shot, and Drexsom Prime-90. While thermal optics are a common choice for those using sniper loadouts in Call of Duty: Warzone 2, players looking to climb the ranked divisions must now find another attachment that gives them the advantage they seek.

Treyarch Studios further explained the reasoning behind this sudden restriction, noting that the un-intended interaction between thermal optics and the Cold-Blooded perk was giving players a competitive advantage, particularly in later rounds. As a result, the Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Ranked Play team has banned these items in order to ensure a more level playing field for all gamers.

The developer has noted that the aforementioned restrictions are not set in stone and may be altered in upcoming seasons should they require balancing. As per the Twitter thread, these modifications are influenced by feedback and data, so there remains a possibility of reintroducing these optics in a future update for Call of Duty: Warzone 2. The game is currently accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
