Highlights
Dead by Daylight has released a new patch with updates and changes for both killers and survivors, including new perks and abilities.
The patch revamps the Anti Face-Camping feature by enabling survivors on the hook to achieve a guaranteed escape when a specific threshold is met. Additionally, the update encompasses map alterations and bug fixes, enhancing gameplay and introducing greater diversity to the game.
A new update has been released for the multiplayer game Dead by Daylight, featuring numerous changes for players. Originally launched in 2016, Dead by Daylight puts a team of four survivors against a killer in a race to survive the night.
Throughout its existence, Dead by Daylight has incorporated popular characters from horror franchises such as Albert Wesker from Resident Evil, Ghost Face from Scream, and even Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage, who appeared as a survivor earlier this year. The game's developers, Behaviour Interactive, have now released their latest patch, introducing a range of updates and modifications to Dead by Daylight.
As part of the Dead by Daylight Halloween 2023 roadmap, players now have access to Tome 17. This update brings a significant patch that enhances perks for both killers and survivors. Killers now have the ability to become obsessed with a specific survivor during a match. When the obsession is hooked, gamers will receive a 5% Haste boost, along with the Undetectable perk. On the other hand, if a killer picks up a second survivor, the Background Player perk will activate for 10 seconds.
In addition, survivors can now sprint at 200% of their running movement speed for 5 seconds, which is an improvement from the previous 150% speed for 4 seconds. This grants them more time to successfully evade capture.
Behaviour Interactive has also implemented various bug fixes and quality-of-life updates, including adjustments to the controversial Anti Face-Camping feature. Depending on the duration a survivor has been on the hook, they now have a 100% success rate of breaking free once it reaches a certain level. The gauge fills faster when the killer is near and slower when other survivors are in close proximity.
In addition to the players, Update 7.3.0 introduces map updates to Dead by Daylight. One of the most well-balanced levels, the MacMillan Estate Realm, has been guiding players through its maze for seven years. With the new update, variations of the MacMillan Estate Realm maps will be added to the pool rotation, creating more chaos for survivors.
With Halloween approaching, updating Dead by Daylight seems like the perfect timing. Fans can also look forward to a Dead by Daylight movie in the works at Blumhouse Productions. While there is no release date yet, the film will be produced by James Wan, the director of Saw.
Dead by Daylight Update 7.3.0 Patch Notes
Killer Perk Updates
Obsessive Pursuit
You develop an intense fixation on a specific Survivor. Cunningly concealing yourself, you methodically eliminate each of your targets. When your chosen Obsession is captured and suspended on a hook, gain the ability to become completely undetectable and experience a 5% boost in speed for 14/16/18 seconds. (new feature)
Survivor Perk Updates
Background Player
When the Killer rescues another Survivor, the Background Player perk is triggered for a duration of 10 seconds. Upon initiating a running motion, the perk enables a sprint at a significantly increased speed of 200% compared to your usual running speed, lasting for 5 seconds. Note that the previous values were 150% for 4 seconds.
Please note that this perk is inoperable while experiencing Exhaustion, as it causes Exhaustion for a duration of 60/50/40 seconds.
Updated Killer: The Skull Merchant
Eyes in the Sky
The match starts with the Skull Merchant having six Drones. Press the Power button to release a Drone, which will then perform an unseen, ongoing scanning sweep. If a Survivor is detected, the Drone becomes active, and its scanning lines become visible. Once a Survivor is detected by a scanning line, they become immune to detection by other scanning lines for a duration of 3 seconds. Survivors have the option to try and hack the Drones. If unsuccessful, the Drone will activate and partially fill their Lock On gauge. If successful, the Drone will be disabled for a period of 45 seconds. The Active Zone (cylinder) has been eliminated.
Removed remote Activation of Drones.
The Killer now starts with 6 drones.
The minimum distance between drones is now 16 meters.
The Drone radius is now 10 meters.
Radar:
Press the Ability Button to activate the Radar and view the positions of Survivors detected by Drones or those trapped by Claw Traps. The movement speed of The Skull Merchant increases with each Survivor detected on the Radar. Additionally, the Radar allows for drone recall and the ability to alter the direction of their scanning rotation.
Lock On
The Lock On meter fills when a Drone performs a scan or when attempting to disable a Drone unsuccessfully. Once the meter reaches maximum capacity, the Survivor acquires a Claw Trap, experiences an Injury, and is afflicted by the Broken status effect. Furthermore, each subsequent scan temporarily applies the Hindered status effect. The Claw Trap discloses the Survivor's whereabouts to the Killer and remains in place until its battery depletes.
Removed the Exposed status effect from Lock On

Once the meter reaches its maximum capacity, the Survivor receives a prompt that grants them a guaranteed chance to escape the hook. Additionally, Survivors who take advantage of this opportunity gain 15 seconds of Endurance.
This feature shuts off entirely once the Exit Gates are powered.
As part of this system, The Cannibal can no longer hit a Survivor who has Endurance twice in the same 0.5 second timespan.

Map Updates
Shattered Square Map Update
The release of the Shattered Square Map garnered a significant amount of feedback. One common complaint was the difficulty in seeing and locating objects, especially for Killers using a first-person camera. To address this, we made necessary adjustments to improve visibility and ensure smoother gameplay.
Additionally, inconsistencies were noted in our visual and navigation language. Objects were positioned in a manner that gave the impression of climbability, thanks to angles resembling stairs or slopes seen in other maps. To resolve this issue, we either removed certain objects or placed assets that align with their collision properties.
The line of sight was significantly limited, allowing players to have a broad view of the entire map. The presence of a clear line of sight can have negative consequences for both players, depending on their preferred play style. Therefore, we have repositioned tiles with higher line of sight blockers to be more prevalent.
Additionally, we have made the decision to decrease the size of the map in order to promote more frequent encounters, enhance its dynamism, and decrease the time taken to locate interactable objects such as generators, hooks, totems, chests, etc.
New MacMillan Estate Realm Update
The MacMillan Estate Realm's maps have been a part of the game for approximately 7 years. While the layouts and other details have long been known to the community, The Entity has decided to introduce additional variations to provide players with a more chaotic experience. As a result, we will be incorporating new versions of the MacMillan Estate Realm maps into the current selection.
