Blizzard has released patch 1.0.3 for Diablo 4 in response to player feedback and to enhance the power of all five classes. The aim is to maintain the balance between Diablo 4's Skills while empowering different class builds.

Diablo 4 was launched on June 6 and received mainly positive reviews. Certain aspects such as the game's storytelling, combat, and world design were highly praised, with many considering it a significant advancement for the series. However, some critics and fans expressed disappointment with the procedurally generated dungeons in Diablo 4. Additionally, there are concerns among fans regarding the game's live-service model, although it has not generated the level of controversy seen with Diablo: Immortal, the mobile game.

All five classes in Diablo 4 will now deal increased damage with their abilities. Some notable examples include the Barbarian's Bounding Slam, which now has a base damage of 112% compared to its original 75%. The Druid's Hurricane and Lacerate abilities have also seen a significant increase from 97.5% to 134%. Similarly, the Necromancer's Bone Spikes have been boosted from 80% to 120%. Additionally, the Rogue's Volley ability now has a base damage of 105% instead of 70%, and Heartseeker's primary damage has been raised from 30% to 75%. The Sorcerer's Lightning Spear has also witnessed a maximum damage increase from 100% to 160%.

These examples are just a few highlights, as all offensive Skills in Diablo 4 have received damage boosts in patch 1.0.3. The recent update also enhances defensive buffs, reduces cooldowns, and extends the duration and success rate of Skills that possess these features. These modifications apply to the Legendary Aspects that players can apply to their gear. Lastly, Skills that generate class-specific resources like Fury and Spirit now produce a greater amount of these resources.

Barbarian

Improvements of Diablo 4's Classes in Patch 1.0.3

Fixed an issue where players couldn’t engage with the Dead Man's Dredge dungeon boss.

Fixed an issue where certain Whispers couldn’t be completed.

The issue of enemies spawning behind the Sealed door in the Cultist Refuge dungeon, which blocked dungeon progression, has been rectified.

The problem of characters being damaged and killed during the Stronghold completion cutscene has been resolved. (Not the triumph we had envisioned)

Fixed an issue that resulted in a crash or freeze if players entered the Untamed Thicket dungeon during the Fangs of Corruption quest.

Gameplay Fixes

Resolved a problem where Druids were unable to transform into Werebear or Werewolf Forms due to the malfunction of Insatiable Fury and Mad Wolf's Glee items.

Resolved an issue where Spider Host enemies would remain upright even after they exploded and died.

Fixed an issue where Corpse Tendrils would cause the corpse visual to disappear.

Fixed an issue where the camera would not zoom out when joining a World Boss encounter.

- Resolved the problem of players being trapped in a knockback state when hit by multiple tornados from Airidah.

- Addressed the issue where all player input would be halted if any button on the controller was pressed while in a Dazed state.

The damage calculation of the Burning Instinct power on the Sorcerer Paragon board now includes the Base Critical Damage.

The issue that allowed players to move in-game during the Leave Game countdown has been resolved.

Local Co-Op

Fixed an issue where the second player that closes the Region Progress menu would be locked in the World Map during Local Co-Op play.

Resolved a problem where player 2 could not interact with buttons in the store while playing Local Co-Op.

Resolved a problem where each player would see different health bars for the same enemy while playing Local Co-Op.

Quests

Fixed an issue where the NPC Lacthan could duplicate during multiple quests.

Resolved an issue where the player character encountered a blockage when interacting with an NPC while seated on a chair during the Demon Ledger quest.

Resolved an issue where the movement of Brol and Mother's chosen appeared abnormal during the eavesdropping cutscene if the player was in close proximity to the damaged wall.

The boss area is now accessible for players who have been joined by the Follower during the Storming the Gates quest.

Resolved a problem where the Illusion Woods Statue could become unresponsive during the Wayward quest.

Improved the function to prevent the expansion of Chat when it is not visible.

Resolved a problem where the HP bar of a party member would wrongly display 0 if they moved away from their group while not fully healed.

Improved Xbox Console's issue where the in-game cross-network play notification would still appear despite cross-network play being disabled.

Resolved the problem that caused new players to receive empty notifications when world bosses emerged.

Fixed an issue on PC where the Tab key would not open the Map if the Materials panel was open.

Fixed an issue where the Spur ability for mounts would display as "Not yet learned."

The Linked Item menu no longer remains on screen when switching between Keyboard & Mouse input and Controller input.

Players now receive correct messaging when undoing the deletion of a Hardcore character.

Improved functionality of Pins on the map for quests or the player.

Resolved display issues with text in various menus.

Localization issues have been addressed.

The menu of the Purveyor of Curiosities no longer displays item quality inaccurately for certain items. This issue did not impact the availability of item quality for gambling.

The issue with the Shop not loading correctly when the player dies during Checkout has been resolved.

The problem of multiple cutscenes not playing when the player interacts with them while in a party of 3 or more players on Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 has been fixed.

- Improved functionality of Randomize Look and Swap Body Type actions in the Shop when viewing Cosmetic Armor.

- Resolved the issue with the PlayStation 5 screen reader not functioning correctly.

Various stability, performance, and visual improvements across all platforms.

Fixed an issue where players using laptops with certain dedicated Graphics Cards would not be able to play the game.

Significantly increased the experience awarded for completing Nightmare Dungeons.

Significantly increased the experience gained from killing monsters in Nightmare Dungeons.

Fixed an issue where no experience was awarded for completing the hold out style event that can occur after finishing dungeon objectives.

General

The Helltide Roaming bosses will now more consistently drop higher quality loot.

Players can now teleport to their Nightmare Dungeon directly through the map.

Balance Changes

We are committed to enhancing the enjoyment and effectiveness of all Class builds through a new set of balance updates. Based on valuable feedback from the community, it has been noted that Basic Skills lack impact during combat. To address this concern, we have implemented changes that aim to maintain the existing relationship between Basic Skills and Core Skills, while simultaneously making the leveling experience smoother. Furthermore, we are also bolstering the power of certain Skills that players have identified as being weaker compared to others. Moving forward, we will continue to monitor and explore topics of interest like Minion survivability and build parity.
