The DC Universe fanbase appears to be united in their support for Alan Ritchson's bid to play Batman. Ritchson first gained fame by portraying Aquaman on The CW's Smallville and later played the crime-fighter Hawk in Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.
Ritchson has gained recognition for his portrayal of a more subdued hero, Jack Reacher. He is currently starring in Reacher Season 2, now available on Prime Video since December 14. In addition, Ritchson has expressed his interest in playing Batman in DC Studios' new cinematic universe.
DC fans united after Reacher star votes himself to play Batman
Ritchson is not the only one who believes he is well-suited for the role of the Dark Knight. In fact, social media has been flooded with DC fans who are convinced that the Reacher actor would be perfect for the role of Batman.

One X user proclaimed their admiration for Reacher and Alan Ritchson by stating their preference for him as Bruce Wayne/Batman. A second individual also supported the idea, while a third praised the beginning of the second season of #Reacher. A fourth person expressed their admiration for Ritchson as an actor and their willingness to support him in any heroic role, while a fifth person pointed out the precedent set by previous Batman actors Robert Pattinson and Ben Affleck.
DC Studios unveils its new Batman movie
It should be emphasized that DC Studios has not made any casting announcements for the role of the new Batman in the DCU. Therefore, no one, including Ritchson, is currently confirmed for the role.
When DC Studios finally selects its next Caped Crusader, the character will make their debut in The Brave and the Bold. Directed by Andy Muschietti, known for The Flash, The Brave and Bold will also introduce Damian, the new Robin and Bruce Wayne's son.
“[Damian] was brought up as a killer and assassin,” explained James Gunn, co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios, in a recent interview. “He’s a tough character. He’s my preferred Robin. It’s based on the Grant Morrison comic book series, which is one of my favorite Batman storylines, and we are currently bringing that all together.”

As a Gen Z netizen, I'm thrilled to see the DC fandom rallying behind Alan Ritchson for the role of Batman in the upcoming DC Studios movie. Ritchson's portrayal of Jack Reacher has demonstrated his ability to embody a strong, stoic, and complex character, which aligns perfectly with the essence of Batman. His previous experience in DC TV shows further solidifies his connection to the DC universe. I believe Ritchson has the charisma, acting chops, and physical presence to bring a fresh and compelling interpretation to the iconic role.
However, I also recognize that there are many talented actors who could potentially excel in the role of Batman. Ultimately, the casting decision should be based on the director's vision and the actor's ability to embody the character's multifaceted personality and motivations. I trust that DC Studios will make a well-informed choice that stays true to the legacy of Batman while also bringing something new and exciting to the character.
