Participating in the practice of adopting children in Skyrim has become quite popular among players. However, a peculiar occurrence was observed by one individual who found their adopted child, to their astonishment, caught in the act of having caused the demise of their beloved pet fox, standing motionless over its lifeless body.
Adopting children in Skyrim became possible with the introduction of the Hearthfire DLC, which also allowed players to construct houses. Additionally, players have the opportunity to acquire different types of pets, such as foxes, dogs, and spiders, each possessing distinct abilities.
Although players retain the option to harm their own pets, it is highly improbable for an adopted child to engage in such behavior. The causes behind this event remain obscure, as it is uncertain what specifically triggers these programmed interactions among Skyrim NPCs.
A Skyrim player discovered their adopted child standing over their deceased pet, suggesting that the young ones are capable of unsettling actions. Many players choose to adopt a child in Skyrim after buying a home, but this particular gamer was taken aback by their child's disturbing behavior.
Although players could purchase houses in Skyrim from the game's initial release, the option to adopt children was introduced later on. Due to the demand from players who could already marry certain characters in the game, Bethesda released a DLC that allowed for adoption. The Hearthfire DLC in Skyrim not only enabled players to construct their own houses but also introduced the option to adopt children. While performing various tasks in their Skyrim residence, one player was unable to intervene as their child unexpectedly killed a pet fox.
Reddit user CrackingChest recently shared a screenshot showcasing an incident involving Sofie in their Skyrim playthrough. The fan noticed fighting noises coming from upstairs while they were storing weapons downstairs, indicating that Sofie was engaged in combat. Upon investigating, CrackingChest discovered their fox's lifeless body beneath a bed, with Sofie standing nearby. The presence of a blood patch in front of Sofie strongly suggests that the Skyrim NPC was responsible for the pet's demise. It is possible that while the Skyrim player was downstairs, Sofie unintentionally struck the fox with weapon swings.
According to CrackingChest, Sofie used an enchanted dagger to kill the Skyrim fox but did not provide any specific dialogue regarding the incident. In Bethesda's RPG, Hearthfire introduced the option for players to adopt various wild animals, including foxes, as pets. These pets, such as dogs, rabbits, goats, skeevers, and spiders, possess unique abilities. The fox, in particular, is capable of locating loot when commanded to do so. Given this ability's suitability for outdoor exploration, it is likely that CrackingChest's fox was intended to serve as a household pet.
Although players have the option to kill their pets in Skyrim, it is uncommon for adopted children to do so. In the event that a player kills their pet, a replacement can be obtained, but the child will refrain from engaging in conversation for a period of time. While Skyrim NPCs are programmed to interact with each other and their environment, the reason behind Sofie's decision to kill the fox remains unclear. Skyrim is currently accessible on various platforms including Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and select legacy consoles.
