Fortunately, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has provided just that with the addition of the war-ravaged district known as Dogtown. Nestled in the heart of Pacifica, Dogtown possesses a distinctiveness unparalleled by any other area in Night City, making it an exhilarating realm to delve into. Its rugged and challenging nature ensures that only the resilient can thrive within its walls. While Dogtown is undoubtedly a valuable addition to Cyberpunk 2077, it possesses untapped potential that could be truly maximized if given the opportunity.

Although Dogtown presents a thrilling and unique expansion to the world of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red could push the boundaries even further with this district if they desired to do so. While the studio excels in creating open-world RPGs, this new district provides an opportunity to venture beyond their comfort zone. Dogtown, in particular, exudes an ambiance that seems tailor-made for a new kind of battle royale experience. With all the essential elements already in place, it simply requires someone bold enough to fully explore this idea.

Dogtown Seems Like the Perfect Place for a Battle Royale Game

Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 is a hazardous place to live, but Dogtown elevates that danger to a whole new level. Situated within Pacifica, Dogtown is a separatist enclave controlled by a cruel dictator. Colonel Kurt Hansen, a NUSA officer, seized power during the Unification War and obstinately refuses to give it up. Instead of returning home after the war's end, Hansen decided to create his own personal utopia in Dogtown. Taking charge as the leader, he formed a militia and isolated the region from the rest of the city.

In the game, Space Force One, the presidential aircraft, crashes within Dogtown following an incident above Night City. It falls upon the player to venture into this perilous area and rescue the president. However, what awaits them is unlike anything they have encountered in the rest of Night City. Dogtown is a war-ravaged zone where residents struggle for survival amidst burning cars, ruins scattered across the landscape, conflicting factions engaged in battle, and Hansen's despotic control reaching every corner.

Although it seems unlikely that CD Projekt Red will develop a Cyberpunk 2077 battle royale game in Dogtown, it could be an enjoyable experience if they did. Not only would it offer players a fresh perspective on the region, but it could also attract a new audience to the franchise. Other studios, such as Naughty Dog and Guerrilla Games, have successfully ventured into multiplayer games with their popular IPs. While it remains to be seen if these endeavors will be successful, CD Projekt Red should consider following suit.
