Crunchyroll and Amazon are collaborating to expand the distribution of Crunchyroll's popular anime subscription service. In the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Sweden, Crunchyroll is introducing its Fan and Mega Fan subscription tiers to Prime Video users. The Fan tier allows users to watch their favorite anime without any advertisements and provides access to new episodes as soon as they are released in Japan. The Mega Fan tier offers these benefits along with offline viewing and the ability to stream at least four anime at once. Starting from October 14, Prime Video users in the U.S. can access Crunchyroll's subscription service, while users in Canada, the UK, and Sweden can expect access later this week.
As part of its effort to reach a wider audience, Crunchyroll has partnered with Amazon. This collaboration is part of a larger initiative aimed at expanding the core user base of Crunchyroll. In addition to its primary streaming service, Crunchyroll recently launched a 24/7 U.S. anime channel. The goal of this channel is to make anime more accessible to a larger number of users. It offers themed program blocks and provides both subbed and dubbed versions of selected series. The channel debuted on The Roku Channel, LG Channels, and VIZIO Watchfree+ on October 11, a few days ahead of its Amazon Freevee debut on October 17. Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini expressed his enthusiasm for the new service, describing it as a "gateway" to the world of Japanese animation.
Crunchyroll will make a comeback at Anime NYC this year and will kick off the convention by premiering Episode 1 of several highly-anticipated shows. This exciting lineup includes Aquarion: Myth of Emotions, The Witch and the Beast, Bartender: Glass of God, and 7th Time Loop: The Villaness Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy. On Day 2, there will be a special behind-the-scenes panel for the popular isekai title Rising of the Shield Hero, led by Director Hitoshi Haga and Kadokawa Producer Kosuke Arai. Anime NYC will take place at the Javits Convention Center from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19.
