Chrishell Stause Criticizes Marie-Lou Nurk for Misgendering G Flip: Jason Oppenheim's Ex Faces Backlash

Chrishell Stause slams Marie-Lou Nurk, Jason Oppenheim's ex, for misgendering G Flip, in a bold move highlighting the importance of using correct pronouns

In a season 7 preview clip of Selling Sunset, the drama escalates during a tense lunch between Chrishell Stause and Marie-Lou Nurk. Despite dating Jason Oppenheim at the time, Marie-Lou confronts Chrishell, 42, about her perceived unfriendliness. The situation becomes even more intense when Marie-Lou decides to involve Jason, 46, to get his perspective. This revelation catches Chrishell off guard, as she was unaware of Marie-Lou's feelings.

"I never accused you of being jealous," Chrishell clarified to Marie-Lou. "I never uttered those words even once. Not a single time. ... What did I miss during our time together in Australia that wasn't pleasant when I believed it was? What happened?"

Marie-Lou acknowledged that the trip, which also involved Chrishell's partner, G Flip, was indeed enjoyable, but she felt that Chrishell didn't show enough interest in her life. On the other hand, Chrishell believed that she and G Flip, who is 30, did ask Marie-Lou questions about her.

The conversation took a turn for the worse when Marie-Lou started referring to G Flip using she/her pronouns, despite G Flip being nonbinary and using they/them pronouns.

Visibly frustrated, Chrishell interjected, "My partner identifies as nonbinary and goes by they/them pronouns. It's a simple concept. The fact that you don't know their pronouns shows a lack of understanding and also reflects on your knowledge of who I am. I have no interest in being friends with someone who doesn't share common ground with me."

Chrishell remarked, "This conversation is making me feel like my brain cells are deteriorating."

Jason and Marie-Lou ended their relationship in May, just shy of a year. In a joint statement, they expressed, "Although we still have deep feelings for each other, the physical distance between us has proven insurmountable. However, we remain close friends and maintain frequent communication to provide mutual support. Our utmost desire is for each other's happiness. We are grateful for the support we received during our time together."

Chrishell and G Flip, meanwhile, tied the knot that same month after one year together.

Chrishell previously dated Jason in 2021 before her relationship with G Flip. They publicly ended their relationship in December of that year, just five months after making it known. Chrishell later confirmed that the reason for their breakup was their differing views on starting a family.

In a December 2021 Instagram post, she shared, "I have tried to be transparent in the world I find myself in, which means being open and honest about my relationships." She continued by saying, "Jason has always been my closest friend, and although we didn't see eye to eye on having a family, our respect and love for each other remains unwavering as we move forward."

Season 7 of Selling Sunset premieres on Netflix Friday, November 3.
