Actor Chris Evans, famous for his role as Marvel superhero Captain America and his conclusion in Avengers: Endgame, expressed his "never-say-never" outlook in a recent GQ interview. However, it is unlikely that Evans will don the costume again. "Playing Captain America was an incredible experience," Evans stated (via Variety). "I hold it dear to my heart and take it very seriously. Sometimes, I still find it hard to believe it even happened. I wouldn't want to tarnish that legacy with a money-driven venture or a project that fails to meet expectations or feels disconnected from the original. So, not anytime soon."
Evans expressed his desire to take a step back from acting in the future, aiming to explore other interests. He acknowledged that, in his career, he hasn't reached the pinnacle of success represented by prestigious awards or being mentioned alongside the industry's top names. Nevertheless, he expressed a deep sense of satisfaction with his accomplishments thus far.
At this point in his career, Evans expressed his intention to be more selective when it comes to roles. He revealed his fondness for the autumn season and expressed a desire not to be occupied with work while nature undergoes its beautiful transformation. Additionally, he mentioned the possibility of pursuing furniture-making as an alternative interest. "I could simply create furniture for my own satisfaction and find contentment," he stated.
Evans first portrayed the iconic character of Steve Rogers/Captain America in the film Captain America, released in 2011. He has subsequently reprised this role in various Captain America sequels and the highly acclaimed Avengers movies throughout the years.
Evans gained recognition for his portrayal of Buzz Lightyear in the upcoming film Lightyear, as well as for his performances in Netflix films such as Don't Look Up and The Gray Man. He also captivated audiences with his role in the thrilling mystery movie Knives Out. Prior to his iconic portrayal of Captain America, he portrayed Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four.
In the upcoming Captain America film, Brave New World, slated for release in 2024, Anthony Mackie will take on the role of Sam Wilson/Captain America.
