Chris Evans' Latest Netflix Film: A Must-Watch Masterpiece

Chris Evans' latest Netflix movie, Pain Hustlers, receives a disappointing 26% score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating a lackluster performance both on the streaming platform and amongst critics

Pain Hustlers, a movie starring Chris Evans and Emily Blunt, was released on Netflix on October 20. However, like many other films, it has received numerous negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

According to the film's synopsis, a woman, who is facing difficulties raising her daughter after losing her job, takes a job out of desperation. She starts working at a pharmaceutical startup that is on the verge of failing, but she is unaware of the dangerous racketeering scheme she has unknowingly become involved in.

Chris Evan's latest film has not only failed to make it into Netflix's top 10, but it has also received negative reviews and has not been well-received by audiences.

Chris Evans’ Netflix film Pain Hustlers gets 26% on Rotten Tomatoes

As of October 24, 2023, Chris Evans’ film Pain Hustlers has debuted at 26% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film "[Pain Hustlers] has an impressive cast and an important storyline, but unfortunately, the execution falls short, ultimately condemning this portrayal of the opioid epidemic."

Richard Roeper from the Chicago Sun-Times described the film as initially gripping and well-acted, but noted that it lost momentum halfway through and experienced jarring shifts in tone. Similarly, Wenlei Ma from PerthNow criticized the lack of creative risks and excessive reliance on cliches, stating that the film offered nothing new.

According to Chris Knight from Original Cin, "Pain Hustlers" delays highlighting the horrors of the opioid epidemic until very late in the film. This approach may aim to involve the audience, but it ultimately leaves a negative and unpleasant impression.

"Unfortunately, Pain Hustlers squanders its talented cast and intriguing premise, as these elements have already been explored in more compelling documentaries and fictional representations. Chaotically-paced, predictable, grimy, and devoid of humor," expressed Matthew Crieth from Matinee with Matt.

Nevertheless, not all Pain Hustlers reviews were filled with negativity and despair.

Aaron White from Feelin' Film Podcast described "Pain Hustlers" as formulaic Netflix content. Although Yates fails to bring any fresh insights into the opioid crisis and the film feels overly lengthy and lacks impact, it is still highly entertaining due to the infectious energy of Blunt and Evans.
