Captain Lee Rosbach from Below Deck shared his thoughts on the recent guest drama and he's not siding with Jill Zarin. He mentioned on his podcast "Salty With Captain Lee" that the crew had a challenging week with Jill Zarin on board.
Lee began by talking about Jill's ice preferences, which were made fun of on the show. Jill, who is 60 years old, made a point of asking for Diet Coke instead of Diet Pepsi, and then requested a specific type of ice to be added to her drinks.
In a recent podcast episode, Lee expressed his frustration by saying, "Forget it, drink your Diet Coke warm. I don't care," before moving on to address the bathroom situation. During an episode of Below Deck in April, Jill also mentioned to Barbie that she was not pleased to find the bathroom lacking in toiletries.
Lee believes that toiletries are not displayed for guests on yachts because it appears unappealing. The captain did not understand Jill's point of view on offering this amenity since it was not something he had encountered on his charters.

“I wonder if she brought some deodorant for her attitude because it sure as hell stunk,” Lee quipped.
Lee, who had been on Below Deck for 10 seasons, was replaced by Captain Kerry Titheradge. Kerry received praise from Lee for his handling of a situation. On screen, Kerry reminded his crew to prioritize their primary guest, who was not Jill. Kerry emphasized the importance of focusing on the primary guest's needs to avoid making mistakes.
Lee supported Kerry's viewpoint on his podcast by stating, "You handle the main task. Everyone else is responsible for themselves."
Lee further added, "A few of the Below Deck cast members have stepped up to support Zarin, such as [Barbie], who mentioned after reviewing the episode, 'I don't believe Jill was as negative as it seemed.' One thing for sure is that the camera always tells the truth."
After facing criticism for her actions on the show, Jill, a former Real Housewives of New York City star, spoke out in her defense.
In an exclusive interview with We, she said, "I stand by everything I did." However, she disagreed with the backlash she received for her words on the show. Jill felt the need to share her perspective since she didn't have the opportunity to explain herself during the show's interviews or confessionals.
Jill felt that her perspective was not considered, describing the situation as "one-sided."
She mentioned the importance of setting the record straight and joked about the limited time available to address all the necessary points. Despite this, she had a positive experience filming and even enjoyed it, noting that she learned new things during her time on the boat.
Jill shared that she felt frustrated because some scenes she filmed were not included in the show. She mentioned, "There’s a couple of scenes that you miss that they cut out of the show. There’s only 50 minutes in a show and they’re going to focus on the drama."
For those interested, Below Deck season 11 can be watched on Bravo on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET. If you miss an episode, you can catch up by streaming new episodes the following day on Peacock.
Editor's P/S:
Captain Lee's candid comments on Jill Zarin's behavior on "Below Deck" highlight the challenges of accommodating demanding guests in the luxury yachting industry. Lee's frustration with Zarin's specific ice preferences and the lack of toiletries in the bathroom underscores the importance of maintaining standards and expectations for guests. While Zarin defended her actions, Lee's perspective as an experienced captain provides valuable insights into the dynamics of guest-crew interactions on a yacht.
The incident also raises questions about the portrayal of guests on reality television. Jill Zarin expressed her frustration over the editing of the show, claiming that her perspective was not fully represented. This issue is common in reality television, where producers often prioritize drama and story arcs over a balanced and nuanced portrayal of individuals. The limited time available in each episode can lead to the omission of essential context and the creation of a biased narrative.
