Caitlin Clark Continues to Rewrite History, Surpassing Steph Curry in Three-Point Milestone

Every new day brings another remarkable achievement for Iowa's Caitlin Clark, as she surpasses yet another record.

Iowa's Caitlin Clark broke another record in the Hawkeyes' 95-62 Big Ten Tournament victory over the Penn State Lady Lions. Clark surpassed NBA star Steph Curry's record for most three-pointers made in a single NCAA Division-I season.

Curry and Liberty Flames’ Darius McGhee both held the record for most successful three-pointers in a season, with 162 each. Curry achieved this during the 2007-08 season while playing for the Davidson Wildcats.

Now, Clark has surpassed Curry, who is widely regarded as one of the best three-point shooters in basketball history.

Clark had a rough start shooting from three-point range on Friday, missing her first 11 attempts. Despite this, the 22-year-old still had an impressive performance in Iowa's big win against Penn State.

After the game, Iowa coach Lisa Bluder remarked, "It's interesting how Caitlin can have a 'bad' night and still put up 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists. It may have been considered a tough night for her, but she still made a significant impact on the game."

Clark eventually found her rhythm and successfully made the crucial three-pointer, solidifying her place in history once again.

"I was just playing around when I made that shot. You have to enjoy yourself," Clark commented on her record-breaking three-pointer after the game. "I believe our team had a great time tonight. I'm really proud of our girls. Sydney, Gabbie, and Kate all played amazingly. If I shoot even better, we might score a hundred points. That's the thrilling aspect of this."

Clark’s been on a streak of breaking records and recently became the NCAA Division-I all-time leading scorer for men’s and women’s basketball.

In a game against the Ohio State Buckeyes on March 3, Clark broke Hall of Famer “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s record of 3,667 points.

After achieving this milestone, Clark humbly expressed, “It might not sink in right away, but I’m going to celebrate with my family and teammates. I feel grateful to be in this position.”

Iowa will now turn its attention to a matchup against the Michigan Wolverines in the Big Ten Tournament semifinal on Saturday.
