Britney Spears hints at a competitive past with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, surprising fans with her basketball victory In a recent Instagram video, Spears playfully reveals how she beat Timberlake and humorously mentions his reaction Find out more about their intriguing dynamic

Britney Spears appeared to reference her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and shared a surprising fact about their previous relationship.

"OH I'M SHOOK!!! Psss … I never mentioned how I beat him in basketball and he would cry … no disrespect ‍️‍️‍️!!" Spears, 42, wrote in the caption of a video posted on Instagram on Friday, December 15.

Spears did not explicitly mention Timberlake, 42, but the phrase "no disrespect" appears to be directed towards J.T.'s performance in Las Vegas on December 13. Timberlake used the same words before performing "Cry Me a River," a song he reportedly wrote after ending his three-year relationship with Spears in 2002. The song's lyrics hint at infidelity, and the music video prominently features a blonde actress who bears a striking resemblance to Spears.

Their previous romantic relationship gained renewed attention following the release of Spears' memoir, The Woman in Me. She extensively discussed their highs and lows in the book, even alleging that both she and Timberlake had been unfaithful. However, Spears felt that Timberlake gained the upper hand publicly with the quick release of "Cry Me a River" after their split.

“At the time, I felt there was no opportunity to share my perspective on the situation,” Spears explained in the song. “I couldn't clarify things because I knew no one would support me after Justin had spread his version of events. I don't believe Justin realized the influence he had in making me feel ashamed. Even now, I don't think he fully comprehends it."

Spears expressed that she was "heartbroken" by the breakup and believed that the public viewed her as the "seductress who had hurt America's beloved hero."

Timberlake previously addressed the release of “Cry Me a River” in his 2018 book, Hindsight.

"I felt deeply hurt and frustrated. The emotions were overwhelming, pushing me to put pen to paper," he expressed in his memoir. "I poured my emotions into a medium that others could connect with and hopefully understand. It resonated with people because we've all experienced similar sentiments."

Since the release of The Woman In Me, Timberlake has kept quiet, but an insider revealed to We that he was "upset" by the personal information Spears revealed.
