Britney Spears is preparing to release her first memoir, which could potentially resurface some previous conflicts involving her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. According to an exclusive source in the latest issue of We magazine, Spears, who is now 41 years old, reportedly confronts Timberlake directly and strongly in her book.
Another source reveals that Spears is feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as her book, The Woman in Me, is set to be released this month. In addition to shedding light on her romantic life, Spears will also touch upon the tumultuous dynamics she has had with her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears.
The source further emphasizes that Spears does not aim to criticize or harm anyone through her book. Rather, she intends to provide her own account of events from her point of view.
Britney and Timberlake, who met while working on The Mickey Mouse Club, were in a relationship from 1999 to 2002. At the age of 42, Timberlake released the popular song "Cry Me a River," which led fans to believe that their breakup was not amicable due to alleged infidelity on Britney's part.
The 2021 documentary Framing Britney Spears reignited the drama between the former couple, suggesting that Timberlake played a role in spreading negative perceptions about Britney after their separation. In response to significant criticism from viewers, Timberlake publicly apologized.

"I have witnessed the messages, tags, comments, and concerns, and I feel compelled to address them," he expressed via Instagram in February 2021. "I sincerely apologize for the instances in my past where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke inappropriately, or stayed silent when I should have spoken up for what was right. ... The entertainment industry is flawed. It inherently favors the success of men, particularly white men. This system has been purposely designed this way."
In his comprehensive statement, Timberlake directly acknowledged his shortcomings towards Spears throughout the years, also extending his apologies to Janet Jackson for the infamous wardrobe malfunction that took place during their 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance.
"As a privileged man, it is important for me to speak out on this matter. I admit to my ignorance in not fully understanding the situation when it occurred in my own life. However, I am determined to never again benefit from the downfall of others," he stated, affirming, "I can and will improve."
At the time, a source exclusively revealed to Us that Britney does not hold any grudges against Timberlake. "She believes that they were young and in love, and both made foolish decisions during their time together. Although she was heartbroken when they parted ways, she no longer dwells on it," the insider explained.
In April 2022, Britney opened up about her writing process and expressed how therapeutic it was to reflect on her past. She also gave a friendly mention to Justin Timberlake, comparing her approach to his public apology to Janet Jackson and herself. Britney shared her thoughts on Instagram, emphasizing the importance of timing.
Not only Timberlake, but her estranged husband Sam Asghari is also mentioned in Britney's upcoming book, set to be released on October 24. However, sources suggest that the references to him will be toned down due to the ongoing divorce proceedings. The couple confirmed their split in August after being married for 14 months.
