Summary
The upcoming Ahsoka series is a spiritual successor to Star Wars Rebels and Clone Wars, and set in the same period as The Mandalorian.
In a potential live-action Clone Wars flashback, Ahsoka is expected to make an appearance, portrayed by a younger actress, offering a fresh perspective. This pivotal moment in Ahsoka's journey beautifully concludes her story from the animated series, paying homage to her enduring legacy and exemplifying her remarkable development.
Star Wars is introducing another live-action Ahsoka Tano actor, alongside Rosario Dawson, in the upcoming series Ahsoka. This comes over a decade after Ahsoka Tano made her debut in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and transitioned into live-action in The Mandalorian season 2 episode "The Jedi," directed by Ahsoka co-creator Dave Filoni. Following her return in The Book of Boba Fett, Dawson now takes on the lead role in the Ahsoka series.
While set in the same timeframe as The Mandalorian, Ahsoka is not simply an extension of that show's timeline. This Rosario Dawson-led series serves as a spiritual successor to Star Wars Rebels and, to some extent, to Clone Wars.

Ahsoka’s Clone Wars Flashbacks Could Reveal A Younger Live-Action Ahsoka Tano
Confirmed by the latest Ahsoka trailer, Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming Ahsoka series. With the exception of their confrontation in Star Wars Rebels, all of the interactions between Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker occurred during the Clone Wars. It is highly likely that Ahsoka will incorporate a live-action flashback from the Clone Wars era. In the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, Ahsoka Tano was 14 years old, and she reached the age of 17 during the seventh season of Clone Wars. Hence, a flashback featuring a younger Ahsoka would require a different actor to portray her character.
Ahsoka’s Clone Wars Flashbacks Bring Ahsoka Tano’s Story Full Circle
Rosario Dawson portrays Ahsoka Tano in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Ahsoka, who is approximately 50 years old, will likely require a different actor for a flashback scene set during her teenage years. While it is possible that Star Wars might opt for de-aging techniques, previous series such as Obi-Wan Kenobi successfully cast younger versions of Luke and Leia without any issues. Interestingly, Hayden Christensen recently portrayed Anakin Skywalker in a flashback scene for Obi-Wan Kenobi, which took place a few months before the Clone Wars movie. As of now, there have been no announcements made about the actor who will portray a younger version of Ahsoka in a potential "Clone Wars Ahsoka" context.
Although Ahsoka, a character from the Clone Wars era, is featured in the Ahsoka show, which takes place nearly a decade after Return of the Jedi, it remains essential to reference her origins. Ahsoka Tano is not the first animated Star Wars character to transition to live-action; nevertheless, she is the first character from an animated Star Wars series to headline her own live-action show. This instance underscores the immense popularity that this original Clone Wars character has gained over the past 15 years. Ahsoka's journey, evolving from a sidekick and a Star Wars retcon to becoming one of the franchise's most beloved and recognizable characters, exemplifies her remarkable trajectory.
Ahsoka has transcended her origins in Star Wars Rebels and her debut in The Mandalorian, showing her growth beyond Clone Wars. Despite her presence in numerous episodes of the animated series, Ahsoka will always be closely connected to Clone Wars. The inclusion of a Clone Wars flashback in the live-action series Ahsoka is a meaningful tribute to her character's legacy. Additionally, the opportunity for Hayden Christensen's Anakin to interact with a Clone Wars version of Ahsoka would be truly special, considering she was conceived after Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
Don't miss episodes 1 and 2 of Ahsoka, releasing on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 23.
