K-Pop sensation Blackpink receives honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire medals from King Charles during his state visit to the UK, in the presence of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol Buckingham Palace confirms the prestigious honor

During his state visit to the United Kingdom, King Charles III presented K-Pop band Blackpink with honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire medals in the presence of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, according to Buckingham Palace. The members of the band - Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose - engaged in conversation, laughter, and posed for photographs with the British monarch during the presentation.

During a special investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, King Charles III awarded honorary MBEs to Blackpink. The ceremony was attended by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, Kim Keon Hee.

"Its amazing youre still talking to each other after all these years," King Charles jokingly said to the band at the ceremony.

"I hope I shall be able to see you perform live at some point."

According to Buckingham Palace, Blackpink was honored with MBEs for their roles as COP26 Advocates at the 2021 United Nations climate summit in Glasgow.

In July, the band made history as the first K-pop group to headline a major UK music festival, performing at the BST Hyde Park summer festival in central London in front of a sold-out crowd of 65,000. Since their debut in 2016, Blackpink has soared to become one of the world's most successful girl groups, breaking records like being the most subscribed-to music artists on YouTube.
