Beyoncé's house? That's right! It's Beyoncé's house!
Beyoncé, 42, made sure her fans had an amazing weekend on December 1st by surprising them with her first new song since 2022's Renaissance. The unexpected single was released on streaming services the same day as the worldwide premiere of Beyoncé's concert movie, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé (where fans learned that the song plays over the end credits).
Beyoncé's "My House" continues the dance/house sound found on her 2022 album, Renaissance. The track kicks off with a thumping bass reminiscent of early 2000s crunk production. Beyoncé references her husband, rapper Jay-Z, with the lyrics "Me and my thug bae gon’ slide tonight (Slide tonight)," and later makes a nod to luxury brands and materials. Halfway through the song, it transitions into deeper house production with surging synths and a relentless bass. Beyoncé delivers an inspirational message, singing "I will always love you / But I’ll never expect you to love me / When you don’t love yourself / Let’s heal the world / One beautiful action at a time."
The song concludes with Beyoncé asserting her ownership of the house, declaring that if anyone doesn't care about her house, they can leave.
Beyoncé’s newest single, "My House," follows her Kendrick Lamar remix of “America Has A Problem” released in May. Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé marks her return to the screen after her previous works including 2020’s Black Is King, 2019’s Homecoming, and 2016’s Lemonade. The film offers fans a chance to relive the unforgettable moments of her Renaissance World Tour and provides a unique behind-the-scenes look at the making of the historic tour. For those who missed the live experience, this film offers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the concert for the first time.
