Recently, some fans have stumbled upon a secret in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3 that directly references a character from the popular game Final Fantasy 14: Heavensward. If players have chosen the Folk Hero background, they have the opportunity to interact with Alfira, a renowned Bard NPC. By selecting certain inspiring dialogue options during their conversation, players are granted an Inspiration called “A Smile Better Suits…” Fans of Final Fantasy 14 will immediately recognize this line as the last words spoken by Haurchefant before his demise: “Oh, do not look at me so. A smile better suits a hero…”
Despite passing away more than eight years ago during an expansion, Haurchefant remains one of the most beloved characters in Final Fantasy 14. He consistently ranks highly in popularity polls, even with the introduction of a stellar cast in subsequent expansions. The game also pays homage to Haurchefant by incorporating his final words as a mantra during heartfelt moments in Shadowbringers and beyond.
