In just a few weeks, Final Fantasy 14 fans will gather at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the first of three highly anticipated Fan Fests. Although ticket-holders are busy preparing for the event, those who couldn't secure a spot can still enjoy the main attractions for free. The North American Fan Fest will cover a range of exciting topics, with more information on these to be revealed at the European and Japan Fan Fests in the following months. This will be the first in-person convention for Final Fantasy 14 in four years, with the previous event being held in Japan in 2019. Thanks to the gradual easing of COVID-19 restrictions worldwide, the event is finally able to take place. While masks and vaccinations are not mandatory, Square Enix has advised attendees to strongly consider them.
Looking to the Past and to the Future
The 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy 14's relaunch as A Realm Reborn is approaching, coinciding with "The Rising" holiday in-game this August. During this event, game producer and director Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida may offer players a hint of what's to come. Fans attending the upcoming Fan Fest can expect discussions around this milestone, including memorable experiences from the game's relaunch. However, the biggest draw for attendees will likely be news on the next expansion, currently referred to as "7.0" by the community. Following the conclusion of the major saga in Endwalker, the current main story arc has served as a tribute to past games in the series, particularly Final Fantasy 4. Fans can look forward to the reveal of the name of the next expansion at the Las Vegas event.
The Eikon in the Room
At the North American Fan Fest, Yoshida may reveal additional details about the highly anticipated crossover between Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 16, given his dual roles as producer for both games. With the Fan Fest taking place just a month after the release of Final Fantasy 16, Yoshida may choose to dedicate a portion of his keynote address to discussing what players can expect to see from the game in Final Fantasy 14. In addition to this exciting news, attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the "The Gilded Araya" trial, facing off against Queen Asura, one of the Eidolons from Final Fantasy 4. With the announcement of the next Final Fantasy 14 expansion name and the debut of new jobs, there will be plenty for fans to look forward to at the event.
Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
