Final Fantasy 14 players on Data Centers that were previously exempt from the auto demolition timer since February 2023 will now be subject to the system once again. The topic of housing in Final Fantasy 14 has been a point of contention within the community, as the number of available plots often falls short of the server's population demands. While the recent expansion of Wards has helped to alleviate this issue, many players still face the arbitrary nature of the housing lottery.
Although the auto demolition system was temporarily suspended in Endwalker's Patch 6.3, Square Enix had extended sympathies to Turkish and Syrian players affected by the February 2023 earthquake by halting the demolition for Final Fantasy 14 players from Europe. However, with the release of The Dark Throne, Square Enix has provided a detailed explanation on how the demolition timer will be re-implemented.
Players in Final Fantasy 14 must take note that starting June 21 at 8:00 GMT, the automatic housing demolition will be implemented once again in both European Data Centers. For those who have logged in at least once during the grace period, their demolition timer will be reset and will start anew from June 21. However, for players who have been inactive since February 9 at 17:25 GMT, their timers will be restarted based on the number of days they had accumulated before the auto demolition was suspended.
Private estate owners in Final Fantasy 14 enjoy exclusive luxuries like personal chocobo stables and access to the profitable gardening system, while apartment owners and homeless players miss out on such perks. Despite the implementation of instanced housing by Island Sanctuaries, players question the effectiveness of the Residential District approach to housing. It remains uncertain if Square Enix will introduce another Residential District, but the addition of Ishgard housing has significantly increased the number of plots available to players. Fans eagerly anticipate the possibility of Sharlayan housing in the upcoming expansion, but it may take years to find a solution that satisfies the entire Final Fantasy 14 community. Until then, the game must navigate the housing crisis with compromise.
Final Fantasy 14 is currently available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
