Baldur's Gate 3 features a selection of valuable treasures that can be obtained through quests or lucky dice rolls, adding incentive for players to explore.
Obtaining these valuable items typically requires tough decisions, successful persuasion or intimidation attempts, or engaging in challenging battles. Certain treasures in Baldur's Gate 3, like the cursed sentient amulet, present risks and repercussions that players must tactfully handle.
Complex games with expansive content can sometimes feel monotonous or chaotic. Following the conventions of role-playing games, which incorporate rewards such as loot and treasure to motivate players, Baldur's Gate 3 presents an array of valuable treasures that pose a challenge to obtain.
These treasures can manifest as weapons, amulets, or other highly sought-after and rare equipment that can be equipped by the character. Occasionally, these treasures are bestowed as part of a quest, and they may even enhance specific abilities. Securing these coveted items does not solely rely on discovering concealed locations or utilizing particular spells; instead, some are accessible only through fortuitous dice rolls.
5. The Githyanki Egg
Resting Comfortably In A Pool Of Acid
Can be given to Lady Esther for some gold.
The Githyanki Egg can be found easily, but accessing it is challenging as it is hidden deep within the Githyanki Creche. Acquiring this unique treasure comes with added risks, as it may anger Lae'zel if the protagonist decides to steal it. However, their plans for the egg might help pacify her wrath.
To minimize danger, the preferable approach is to persuade the Custodian of the Hatchery, Varsh Ko'kuu, to willingly hand over the egg. Choosing this option allows the party to leave the Creche without any hindrances. However, convincing Varsh requires passing rigorous Persuasion and Intimidation tests. Alternatively, the egg can be stolen using Stealth and Invisibility. Another option is to wait until one aligns with either the Githyanki or opposing them in the story's progression. In the latter case, eliminating everyone in the creche, including the Guardian, allows looting a pair of boots that are resistant to poison.
4. The Orphic Hammer
Locked Behind Tough Combat Or High Persuasion And Intimidation Checks
Allows the wielder to use the Unshackling Strike class action.
Stealing from ordinary people is already challenging, but infiltrating a demon's dwelling and robbing him takes difficulty to another level. There are various methods to obtain this hammer, but none of them are simple. The main character must overcome difficult dice rolls to bypass both Hope and the Archivist. Another possibility is pickpocketing the Archivist to acquire a pass to the boudoir, where Raphael stores his safe.
To gain access to Raphael's safe and acquire the Orphic Hammer, players must confront the demon named Haarlep. There are multiple choices available, including striking a deal with Haarlep or engaging in combat to loot the Safe Key from the demon's corpse.
3. The Sentient Amulet
Burn To Death While Cursed With Laughter
Allows the wearer to cast Shatter and restore Ki Points.
The content fragment can be rewritten as follows:
This valuable amulet not only grants access to a side quest but is also securely kept in a locked chest on an island amidst a river of scorching magma, guarded by a fire elemental. However, acquiring this cursed treasure is only the beginning of the challenge.
To safely reach the locked chest, players can utilize fire-resistant equipment or potions, as well as advantageous spells like Misty Step or Fly. By avoiding the elemental, unlocking the chest, and examining the amulet, players will trigger a conversation that sets off the Help the Cursed Monk quest. It's important to note that the amulet is cursed, so players should exercise caution if they choose to use it. Ultimately, they must journey to the tomb in Wyrm's Crossing in Act 3, where a difficult decision awaits them – whether to aid the Laughing Monk or not.
2. Necromancy Of Thay
Down To The Cellar And Through A Magic Mirror
Successfully reading the book rewards the reader with the Speak with Dead spell and +1 to Wisdom saving throws.
Finding this book starts by discovering random notes in the dilapidated dwelling of the Apothecary in the Blighted Village. No Perception check is required; the player must simply take the initiative to read the notes.
Once the book is acquired by the character, it can only be read once, marking the beginning of the adventure. The next part of the book can be unlocked by obtaining a piece of amethyst, located on the ground amidst a nest of giant spiders in the Whispering Depths. Carrying the book throughout Act 3 and ultimately to the heavily guarded vault of Sorcerer's Sundries allows players to discover another book called the Tharchiate Codex. This book grants access to the remaining chapters of the Necromancy of Thay. However, reading it bestows the power to summon demonic fiends, a valuable ability but one that is not easily attained.
1. Lathlander's Blood
A Mace That Requires A Puzzle To Be Solved Or A Sacrifice To Be Made
Allows the wielder to cast Sunbeam.
There are two ways to acquire this gleaming mace that possesses a droplet of Lathander's divine blood. One option is challenging, while the other is even more arduous and requires considerably more time but is relatively less hazardous. Players have the freedom to determine which path they consider to be the harder one.
One way to acquire this item, known as the Dawnmaster's Crest, is by locating it amidst the upper levels of the temple. This task demands thorough exploration and keen observation skills. However, some adventurers may already have a busy schedule. For those seeking a quicker but riskier approach, they can simply seize the mace from its pedestal, triggering a trap. The mechanism outside will then initiate its self-destruction, causing the temple and the Githyanki Creche beneath it to be obliterated. At this stage, the game shifts into a turn-based mode, granting players four turns to flee before they are crushed.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a challenging game, and the treasures are no exception. The five treasures listed in the article are some of the most difficult to obtain, and they all require a significant amount of effort and skill to acquire.
Personally, I think that the most challenging treasure is the Necromancy of Thay, which requires players to venture into the depths of the Underdark and face off against powerful undead creatures. I also think that the Orphic Hammer is a very challenging treasure to obtain, as it requires players to infiltrate a demon's dwelling and steal the hammer from him. Overall, I think that the treasures in Baldur's Gate 3 are a great way to challenge players and reward them for their efforts.
