Unleashing a Multiverse of Possibilities: Baldur's Gate 3 Reveals Exciting New Playable Races and Classes for Epic Launch

Baldur's Gate 3 astounds fans with an array of exciting character possibilities for launch, introducing two additional races, a fresh class, and an expanded level cap

Baldur's Gate 3 has announced exciting new additions for its upcoming release, including two additional races, a new class, and numerous subclasses for players to select from. Larian Studios recently shared detailed information about the game in a Community Update, revealing that the PC release date has been moved forward by approximately one month, while the PS5 launch has experienced a slight delay.

The majority of the post is focused on the new character creation options that Baldur's Gate 3 is introducing prior to the game's launch. This includes the addition of Half-Orcs and Dragonborn as playable races, providing gamers with all the race options from the original Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Player's Handbook. Furthermore, Dwarf characters will now have the option to play as Duergar, a subrace representing the psionic inhabitants of the Underdark.

Furthermore, Baldur's Gate 3 will now feature the Monk class. This martial artist excels in using light weapons, unarmed strikes, and ki to control the battlefield and defeat foes. Fans of Dungeons and Dragons will recognize iconic Monk abilities such as Deflect Missiles and Martial Arts. Players can also choose from different Monastic traditions such as Open Hand, Shadow, and Four Elements, which have been adapted slightly to suit the video game environment.

Baldur's Gate 3's other playable classes are also receiving new subclass options. Each class now has at least three options, with the Cleric and Wizard having even more. This brings the total number of subclasses available at launch to 46, allowing players to create powerful builds from Dungeons and Dragons.

In addition to these subclass options, Baldur's Gate 3 will also introduce many other new features. The game will have 37 feats, with at least half of them being new for the launch. There will be over 600 spells and sub-spells, including numerous options not previously seen in Early Access. Furthermore, the maximum level cap is being raised from 10 to 12, allowing classes to access powerful upper-tier abilities. Players can expect to learn more about these features and more during Baldur's Gate 3's final Panel From Hell on July 7.

Baldur's Gate 3 is coming to PC on August 3 and PS5 on September 6.
