The Exciting New Release Strategy of Baldur's Gate 3 Unveiled!

Baldur's Gate 3, a highly anticipated game, is undergoing changes with its release schedule. The PC version is being brought forward, while the release of the PS5 version is being delayed by a few days. It has been more than 20 years since the last installment of this beloved RPG franchise, and Baldur's Gate 3 aims to attract a new generation of RPG enthusiasts.

Originally announced in 2019, Baldur's Gate 3 had previously set a release date for August 31 of this year. The anticipation for this third installment has been immense, considering the long wait since the release of the first two BioWare-developed titles. 2023 has proven to be a significant year for the gaming industry, with the launch of major installments from well-established franchises such as Diablo 4, Final Fantasy 16, Mortal Kombat 1, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Street Fighter 6. With the Fall season of game releases showing no signs of slowing down, Larian Studios has made necessary adjustments to the release of Baldur's Gate 3.

In a recent update on Steam, Baldur's Gate made an exciting announcement. The PC release date has been moved forward by almost a full month and will now be on August 3. However, there is a slight delay for the PS5 version, which is now set to launch on September 6. Speaking with IGN, Swen Vincke, the director and founder of Baldur's Gate 3, mentioned the competitive release calendar of 2023. With the recent release of major titles like Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo 4, and Final Fantasy 16, as well as the upcoming release of Starfield, a direct competitor in the western RPG genre, the team at Baldur's Gate 3 anticipates fierce competition. This competition is intensified by the fact that the PS5 version of Baldur's Gate 3 will be launching on the same day as Starfield.

Larian shifted the release date of the PC version of Baldur's Gate 3 to August 3 to allow players more time with the game before the release of competing RPG Starfield in the Fall. Keeping the original August 31 release date would have meant launching the game just a day before Starfield's early access period. However, Larian's decision to release the PS5 version of Baldur's Gate 3 on the same day as Starfield's release raises questions. Larian's CEO, Vincke, clarified that this move was made to ensure the game reaches its target of 60 FPS performance on PS5. Although Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield have different settings, Larian recognizes that many gamers are interested in both and made schedule changes to accommodate them. While PC and PS5 gamers can enjoy Baldur's Gate 3 this year, there is still no confirmed release date for the Xbox version of the game.

Baldur's Gate 3 is coming to PC on August 3 and PS5 on September 6.
