Pokemon GO will no longer work on devices running Android 7, urging players to update their OS or buy a device with a more modern version of Android.
The ongoing Pokemon GO season offers enhanced gameplay, a higher frequency of themed Pokemon spawns, and the addition of Paldea Pokemon. Android 8 or newer, as well as iPhone 6s or newer, users remain unaffected by this update, as Pokemon GO functions as usual on these devices.

Niantic has implemented several gameplay improvements for the current season of Pokemon GO. These enhancements include expanding the limit for gift opening and sending. Additionally, themed Pokemon spawns and trainer damage during Raids with friends have been increased. Exciting new content has also been introduced, including the highly anticipated debut of Paldea Pokemon in Pokemon GO. The season is packed with various events, ranging from the popular Community Day to the highly anticipated Out to Play event. For the first time ever, players have the opportunity to obtain a Shiny Hisuian Growlithe in this event.
Pokemon GO will no longer provide support for devices using Android 7 starting from October 4, when update 285.0 is released by Niantic. This means that players using Android 7 will need to either update their operating system or purchase a device with a more recent version of Android to continue enjoying Pokemon GO. Android 7, also known as Android Nougat, was released in 2016 and is currently the minimum requirement to run the game. Additionally, the phone must have at least 2GB of RAM, support a resolution of 720 x 1280, have GPS and location services enabled, and not be rooted.
On the other hand, players using Android 8, known as Android Oreo, will not be affected by the change and will still be able to enjoy Pokemon GO. However, Android 8 will become the new minimum requirement for accessing new features in the game. Apple users, specifically those with iPhone 6s or newer models running iOS 14 or higher, will also experience no changes as Pokemon GO will continue to operate normally. It is important to note that the Apple device should have at least 2GB of RAM and should not be jailbroken. Players with Android 7 devices will no longer be able to find Pokemon GO in the Google Play Store or sideload the game.
Players are speculating that Android 8 phones could be the next to lose support following the recent announcement regarding the end of support for Android 7 phones. Niantic, the game's developer, has not provided any information on the matter thus far. Although it is disheartening to witness the conclusion of Android 7's support, a similar situation occurred last year with devices running Android 6 when Pokemon GO underwent the same process. This is a routine measure implemented by developers to ensure players enjoy a stable gaming experience. Pokemon GO can be downloaded for both Android and iOS devices.
