Anne Hathaway Steals the Show with Dual Ensembles at 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards

Anne Hathaway delighted us with not only one, but two stunning outfits at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday, November 6th.

As the host of the event, Hathaway, aged 40, appeared on the red carpet at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, wearing a captivating denim ensemble designed by Ralph Lauren. The attire, derived from the fashion house's spring/summer 2024 collection, showcased a corset-style top with buttons and a gracefully flowing high-waisted skirt that extended into an elegant train.

Upon closer examination, Hathaway's top was revealed to be a deconstructed blazer adorned with a striking deep blue floral pattern. The skirt, in a lighter and more subdued hue, featured a complementary illustration. Hathaway enhanced this chic ensemble with a collared necklace from Bulgari, allowing her loose and voluminous hair to effortlessly cascade. For a touch of glamour, Hathaway chose a natural radiance, accentuating her warm eyes and finishing with a glossy pink lip.

Later that evening, Hathaway made a wardrobe change, trading her jeans for a stunning bright red gown designed by Rodarte. The elegant floor-length dress featured delicate sheer lace and a stylish criss-cross bodice. The ensemble was adorned with beautiful flowers and intricate black beading. Hathaway completed the look with an elegant updo and opted for minimal jewelry.

During the ceremony, Hathaway took the stage to present the highly coveted American Womenswear Designer of the Year Award to Catherine Holstein of Khaite. (The label gained fame for Katie Holmes' viral cashmere bra moment when she paired it with a matching cardigan in 2019.)

Serena Williams and Gwyneth Paltrow were among the other 2023 CFDA winners. Williams was recognized as the Fashion Icon, while Paltrow received the Innovation Award for her lifestyle platform, Goop.

Apart from Hathaway, Williams (42), and Paltrow (51), the event saw the presence of notable personalities like Kim Kardashian, Lori Harvey, Dove Cameron, Shay Mitchell, Quinta Brunson, Saweetie, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Graham, and many others.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) annually honors and acknowledges notable figures in the fashion field. Established in 1962, this non-profit trade association aims to enhance the worldwide influence of American fashion by promoting innovative talent, enduring business success, and beneficial contributions, as stated on the CFDA website.

Past recipients of the prestigious honor include renowned fashion designers Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford, as well as the esteemed Bestsey Johnson. Notable celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, and Rihanna have also been recognized for their contributions to the fashion industry. Rihanna made headlines in 2014 when she graciously accepted her CFDA award in a bold fashion statement, donning a stunning Adam Selman gown adorned with Swarovski crystals. The daring ensemble featured a sheer design, revealing her choice to forego a top and opting for a thong instead. Completing her eye-catching look, Rihanna added a touch of glamour with a sparkling cap and a pink fur shawl.
