Anne Hathaway revealed the heartfelt story behind her tattoo during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on December 1. The 41-year-old actress shared the details of her body ink during the episode.
Hathaway, 48, revealed to Barrymore the significance of the letter “M” tattoo on her left wrist, which represents the special bond she shares with her husband, Adam Shulman. "Individually we’re whole, but together we’re more," she explained to Barrymore. "I don’t expect him to complete me and he doesn’t expect me to complete him. We choose to be together because we believe we make each other better."
Hathaway and Shulman, 42, have been in a relationship for 15 years and recently marked their 11th wedding anniversary in September. They are the proud parents of two sons – Jonathon, 7, and Jack, 3.
Adam Shulman and Anne Hathaway, pictured above, openly discussed their deep connection in a February 2013 interview with Harper's Bazaar UK. Hathaway revealed, "I knew from the moment I met him that he was the love of my life."
During the same segment of The Drew Barrymore Show, Barrymore shared with Hathaway an online conspiracy theory linking Hathaway and Shulman. Barrymore presented side-by-side images of Shulman and William Shakespeare, highlighting their striking resemblance, and pointed out that Shakespeare’s wife shared the same name as Anne Hathaway. "He might be the reincarnation of William Shakespeare," Barrymore proposed.
"Isn't it crazy?" Hathaway responded. "It would be amazing if it's true, but even if it's not, it's still pretty great."
She then glanced at the screen displaying Shulman's photo. "He's attractive. I don't want to sound too smitten, but yeah," she admitted, "I'm blushing."
Hathaway then disclosed to Barrymore that her follow-up encounter with Shulman took place at a halloween gathering hosted by Barrymore. "You were dressed up as Tippi Hedren from The Birds which is an inspiration for my character in Eileen."
