Anne Hathaway was told that her acting career wouldn’t last long — and she ultimately proved them wrong.
Starting my career in this industry as a child, I was cautioned about a potential decline in my career at the age of 35, a common challenge faced by many women," stated Hathaway, 41, in a recent interview with Net-a-Porter. "However, what has changed over time is the increasing number of women pursuing fulfilling careers well into their lives, and I find that truly inspiring."
Without disclosing the identity of those who made the inaccurate prediction, Hathaway chose to direct her energy towards pursuing her aspirations and fulfilling her dreams.
"I have always been open and honest about my ambition," she stated. "I have goals and dreams, which haven't really changed since I was younger. But I am still actively pursuing them."
Hathaway kickstarted her Hollywood career in the early 2000s, achieving recognition with her breakthrough role in the Princess Diaries. Following her success in various royal roles, she made the decision to transition into more dramatic projects. This included notable films such as Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and The Devil Wears Prada in 2006, which became her greatest commercial success at that time. Later, she portrayed Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.

"It brings me immense joy to know that I have become an integral part of someone's life. The privilege of being there for others during their moments of need is indescribable," she expressed, reflecting on the impact her previous work has had on the younger generation. "I am exhilarated by the fact that my journey as a performer has resonated with individuals, and I cherish the longevity of projects beyond their initial release."
Hathaway's career continued to flourish, undeterred. Her remarkable portrayal in the 2008 drama Rachel Getting Married earned her a well-deserved Academy Award nomination, marking a significant milestone. However, her triumph came in 2012 with an Oscar win for her extraordinary performance as Fantine in the cinematic adaptation of Les Misérables. Furthermore, Hathaway boasts a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award, highlighting the breadth of her achievements.
Hathaway, who was named one of the highest-paid actresses in the world by Forbes in 2015, continues to achieve her goals with the constant support of the people who were there for her when she started acting at the age of 16.
Expressing her gratitude for being welcomed back into the industry, she shared, "The relationships in my life have been seasoned well, and I am still evolving and growing."
