Jason Oppenheim's ex-girlfriend, Marie-Lou Nurk, held various, seemingly arbitrary, grievances against Chrishell Stause during season 7 of Selling Sunset. Us Magazine is attempting to uncover the reasoning behind Marie-Lou's dissatisfaction.
Filmed during Jason and Marie-Lou's romantic involvement, season 7 took place following Jason's breakup with Chrishell in December 2021. Six months after their split, in July 2022, Jason and Marie-Lou began dating. (Chrishell has since found happiness with her spouse, G Flip, whom she married in May.) However, Jason and Marie-Lou's relationship ended in the same month that filming concluded.
Prior to its premiere on Netflix on Friday, November 3, Marie-Lou hinted at her dissatisfaction with Chrishell. While mentioning her preferred real estate agents from Jason's company, Marie-Lou neglected to include a few noteworthy individuals.
"I absolutely adore some of the cast members," she expressed on her Instagram Story in May. She specifically praised Mary Fitzgerald, Amanza Smith, Chelsea Lazkani, and Nicole Young, who joined the show in season 6. "Mary, for instance, is incredibly kind. Amanza is both funny and intelligent. Chelsea is incredibly sharp-witted and clever. I genuinely love them. Nicole possesses a genuinely compassionate nature and is a close friend of mine. As for the others...well, you'll just have to tune in to season 7."
Here are all the issues Marie-Lou raised against Chrishell in season 7:
Chrishell Ignored Her

During the season 7 premiere, Marie-Lou told the other Oppenheim Group employees that Chrishell doesn’t acknowledge her.
"I recently had an interaction with Chrishell where she only greeted me in the presence of Jason, and otherwise, she completely ignored me. It's disappointing because I made an effort to acknowledge her importance to Jason. It felt like she deliberately ignored me, which seemed like mean girl behavior." Marie-Lou described Chrishell's actions as "threatening." Later, Jason addressed his concerns with Chrishell, and she shared her perspective on the situation.
"Perhaps I haven't fully acknowledged the fact that there is a significant age difference between you and her, and I have observed you dating several girls in that age range before [who eventually left]," Chrishell remarked, proceeding to defend herself. "Every time I have encountered her, I have warmly greeted her with open arms and embraced her."
The manner in which Marie-Lou expressed her concerns did not sit well with Chrishell. "I'm aware that she doesn't particularly enjoy my presence, which makes me inclined to not spend too much time around her. So what should I do in this situation?" she inquired of Jason.
Chrishell Didn’t Ask Enough Questions
Chrishell, the soap opera star turned actress, eventually arranged a meeting with Marie-Lou to discuss and resolve their conflicts. However, the discussion shifted gears as Marie-Lou expressed her desire for Chrishell to show more curiosity about her own life.
Chrishell clarified her stance, stating, "I don't require an interest in you, but I do strive to maintain a friendly demeanor. That's the distinction." Apologizing, she added, "It's not my responsibility to inquire about your life, I'm sorry, but it's simply not." Nonetheless, Marie-Lou contended that it would be favorable for Chrishell to display a greater level of initiative.
"I have a connection with Jason, so we have a good rapport and can have discussions," Marie-Lou mentioned. She tried to appreciate G Flip for being friendlier than Chrishell, but in the process, misidentified the nonbinary musician's gender.
"This situation shows the extent of our relationship, where the individual who matters most to me is not known to you, and that's okay," Chrishell pointed out. "But the larger issue is that you don't know me either. I don't see us being friends or sharing any common ground."
Chrishell Apparently Thinks Marie-Lou Is Jealous
During the uncomfortable encounter, Marie-Lou exacerbated the situation by placing a call to Jason. "I'm currently in the presence of Chrishell. It seems she may not desire a friendship with me, attributing her reasoning to my envy. This caused me to become emotional," she asserted.
Chrishell retaliated by asserting that Marie-Lou's account of the situation was inaccurate. She clarified that she never accused Marie-Lou of being envious and emphasized that she had never uttered those words at any point. Chrishell reminded Marie-Lou that the entire altercation had been captured on camera, thereby challenging the validity of Marie-Lou's claims. Perplexed, Chrishell questioned her own sanity, wondering if she was losing her mind. On the phone, Jason expressed his solidarity with Chrishell by affirming that she had not relayed that information to him.
Marie-Lou also floated the idea that there are still “feelings” between Chrishell and Jason, which the real estate agent shut down.
Chrishell Doesn’t Follow Marie-Lou Back on Social Media
During his support for his then-girlfriend, Jason acknowledged that social media was discussed in his conversations with Marie-Lou.
"I also noticed that you didn't follow her on Instagram," he mentioned. "It could have been unintentional, and I don't blame you. However, she perceived it as a slight."
Marie-Lou denied that social media had anything to do with why she felt Chrishell didn’t like her.
Chrishell’s Compliments Aren’t Different Enough

Chrishell responded by stating that she had always greeted Marie-Lou with a complement whenever they met, without fail or exception. However, Marie-Lou remained unsatisfied, asserting that the compliments were repetitive and always made in the presence of Jason.
Chrishell and Marie-Lou ultimately didn’t work out their issues before the end of the season. Due to their feud, Chrishell largely avoided Marie-Lou and her friendship with Jason declined as well.
