On July 19, Twitch lifted the ban on Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa, bringing an end to her seventh temporary suspension in as many years. Despite being one of the top Twitch streamers with 6.4 million followers as of July 2023, Amouranth remains a controversial figure on the platform, largely due to her hot tub streams. These streams have resulted in multiple temporary suspensions in the past, though none of them have lasted more than three days.
Twitch has lifted Amouranth's ban after just 24 hours, according to StreamerBans. As usual, Twitch has not provided any specific comments on the ban, and Amouranth herself has not given any details on the reason for her seventh ban. During her ban, Amouranth streamed on Kick, a platform she joined in June. She had previously joked about wanting a $100 million partnership with Kick, similar to xQc's deal with Twitch's rival platform. Some of Amouranth's followers celebrated the lifting of her ban, while others criticized Twitch for allegedly treating its top streamers differently when it comes to enforcing community guidelines.
Amouranth isn't the only well-known content creator who faced a Twitch ban in July. Just before her account suspension, popular streamer PewDiePie also received his second ban on Twitch. However, unlike Amouranth, PewDiePie's Twitch account remains banned.
Adding to the accusations of biased bans, Twitch has faced criticism for attempting to implement significant changes to its advertising guidelines. These changes were meant to restrict the type and amount of sponsored content that streamers could include in their broadcasts. One of the most controversial limitations was a complete ban on full-screen video ads, a popular format among streamers. Many influential content creators expressed confusion and threatened to boycott Twitch in response to the new advertising policy. As a result, Twitch reversed its decision and abandoned the new rules shortly after announcing them in early June.
