Alexa PenaVega opened up about the toll that experiencing a stillbirth took on her mental and physical health.

In an emotional Instagram video on Wednesday, May 15, the 35-year-old actress shared, “This season, I have learned so much about pain with purpose. Losing Indy was very hard, and then right after losing her, my health declined a lot, and nobody could figure out what was wrong. It was a very hard season for all of us to navigate, but I don’t think I’ve ever surrendered in this way to God in my life.”

Leaning into her faith, PenaVega prayed for the pain to have a purpose. She asked God to use the pain to either remove something from her body or to help her process her emotions. She believed that no pain should be wasted.

Alexa also mentioned that her family with husband Carlos PenaVega has become stronger despite their emotional loss. She expressed that her faith, marriage, and life have all become stronger. Even though their daughter did not take a breath on Earth, Alexa felt that her life had a purpose. (Alexa and Carlos, 34, have sons Ocean, 7, and Kingston, 4, and daughter Rio, 2.)

In a recent video, Alexa shared with fans that she and her family are doing well despite everything. She ended the clip by expressing gratitude for her fans, acknowledging that the upcoming season may bring a mix of emotions. Alexa asked for continued prayers and support, stating that they are relying on peace to guide them through.

Alexa and Carlos, who got married in 2014, announced in November 2023 that they were expecting their fourth child. Unfortunately, Alexa experienced a partial placental abruption in March, leading to a pregnancy loss.
